Boston wants top 10 pick and all star caliber player.
6th + Bartschi + something else would be fair.
Tough #####e for Boston, they are the ones in cap trouble and want to clear almost 6m, Baertschi should and better be off the table, the reason you trade for Seguin is to play with him.
Jesus, I hope someone locks Feaster in a closet until after the draft. I think he's like a lot of the posters on this board and and want to make a trade just to make a trade, especially if it is splashy, regardless of the long term outcomes. Scares the hell out of me.
the most important draft in team history and look whos at the helm...something bad is gonna happen this weekend.
I don't think Boston is going to get what they want. But they are really going to have to do something at a reduced cost to get Bergeron and Ras under contract. PLus add a D-man and a winger or two. The two teams that are trying to get the moon in return for their cap issues are Boston and Vancouver. And I don't think it's going to happen. They painted themselves into a corner and now they expect other GM's to get them out of it?
I know I said I'd give up Backlund, Gaudreau and next years first for Seguin but after a couple hours of stewing I think all teams will be minimizing any deal for one of their players.

Except that Seguin's not your normal cap dump, and there a lot of GMs who would bid against each other for a player like that.
Seguin has played 129 of the last 130 NHL regular season games he has been scheduled for and has scored G45 A54 P109 for 0.845 points per game. If the Flames are going to be competitive 3-4 years from now, have Seguin in the true prime of his career sounds like a nice player to have.
The people who are saying that you can't mortgage all of the picks and prospects are correct that there is such a thing as too much to give up, but I don't get the sense from them that there is a price involving some future pieces that they are willing to give up.
If there was a deal to be made around the 6th + Gaudreau + roster player, I think you have to consider that.

Eastern guy on the Fan saying Seguin is known as a perimeter player.
I don't know if that is true or not because I've never paid any attention to Seguin, but if it is then no thanks.
The flames are better off swinging for a unique player like Nichushkin.
I agree with you 110%. Seguin dominated the regular season and then disappeared in the playoffs. The Flames need guys who show up in the playoffs.
Heatley, Stamkos, and Seguin are regular season perimeter guys.
The Flames need guys who are built for the playoffs, like "Old Iggy", Bergeron, Lucic, or any of the 2004 Flames roster.

How much Center does Seguin actually play? I was under the impression that the Bruins often use him as a winger in order to play him in their top 6. Chiarelli does have a history of trading guys jbefore he has to give them their second contract with Kessel, and Wheeler. So he's not scared to trade a young guy out of fear that it will come back to bite him.

Tied for 41st in scoring in the playoffs. I would not give up significant value for this guy. Doesn't go to the dirty areas to score goals. 1 goal this year and his team went to the Finals. No thanks.

winger so far, he has only played center in boston rarely
even when he was in the bottom 9 it was on the wing
I think a lot of that though is just Julien not trusting a young guy

I think #6 + #28 + Gaudreau + Backlund gets us Seguin.
Seguin is a blue-chipper. Around 0.85 points per game is immense for someone used as infrequently as he has been on a stacked Boston team. It would be like getting Mackinnon but 2 years further along in his development.
I want us to stick with the 3 picks. There are some excellent kids I this draft. Patience is of the essence.
The cost to get him will probably be way too much. Some teams might have the asset depth that we just don't have to give a good push. If we have to give up Sven and the 6th this year or our first round next year, it isn't worth it. Just pick up Monahan/Lindholm this year and pick up that true super star in the middle next year at the draft when we are picking in the top 3.
Exactly. The promising thing about his 'crappy' playoff performance was the effort he put out. He was struggling to put the puck in the net no doubt but the kid was working his tail off on the ice trying to contribute and find a way to get going.
I'll take a 21 year old with that mentality all day.

If that's true I'm happy. Seguin or Monaham? Not a hard choice.

If that's all it costs I have to say... I'd strongly consider it.
