Being an emergency centre we've been doing our best to keep staffing levels up.
Thankfully, we have 17 people with the ability to VPN (as well as all management/administration staff) so we've been keeping those people at home, though management has for the most part been in-house to watch over things.
Only 2 people were directly affected by flooding (and have been given paid time to deal with it) and today we had 2 people in the evac zone. I've had a handful of my staff with 2 hour drive times today, and 1 is still not in (stuck on Glenmore, poor thing).

I don't think I've ever had an easier time getting to downtown. 16th Ave and Barlow were a bit backed up because of the Deerfoot mess, but as soon as I got on Memorial it was smooth sailing. I'm guessing not a lot of people realize yet that the 4th Ave flyover is open again, or there's still a large chunk of the downtown core still staying at home. So glad I don't live anywhere in the south

My wife's asking if Memorial is ok to come east out of downtown, sounds like that should be ok? Didn't know if it was impacted by the train bridge thing.

Both the 4th and 5th ave bridges were open and had light traffic when I came into work this morning

Happy to hear that our office building (333 11th Ave SW) has opened as of 11:00am today. We're still asked to work remotely through the weekend. AC hasn't been on for a week.
At least all the fridges have been cleaned out without nasty notes from reception.

Finally going back tuesday. For those that live in the south and have to rely on transit, how has the commute been? I'm almost debating driving to one of the SW stations and parking there...how are the buses along Mcleod working out?

Frack its quiet out there. I would assume that most people just took the last few days off to either get to work fixing stuff or get away from the stress and have an extra long weekend.

The drive time this morning was incredible. Ended up being 45 minutes early.

It's about as good as you could expect it to be. They are quite organized getting people from Heritage to the shuttle bus with minimal wait time. The "bus only" lane has been pretty good, but of course there are those that think they are better than everyone else and clog up the lane. All in all, I'd still add about 20-30 minutes to the commute, but I honestly cannot think of a better way to do it, so that's how it's going to be for a week or two.

Hopefully the drive will be better after the weekend because Macleod was brutal yesterday. I think parking is still in pretty short supply downtown as well, with a number of parkades still being closed.
The Ctrain/shuttle bus sucked. It took me over 2 hours to get downtown from Somerset-Bridlewood, and lineup for the shuttle bus at Heritage station was insane. I didn't even wait until the bus got close to my building, I just got off at City Hall and walked the rest of the way.
Coming home wasn't bad at all. I left DT at 3:30 because I figured it was going to take forever, and I was home by 4:45.

The 201 bus out of DT is a disaster. Took 20 minutes to turn right at 9th ave & 1st st. Really hope the CTrain is back soon.

Thanks for all the info. Sounds like a nightmare...but is how it has to be
I'm not too worried about getting to work, I live right by Heritage. But I feel bad for the people who will have to get on past that station, and going home is going to suck balls.

My dad said it took him 2 hours going to work yesterday morning with the shuttle (he gets on at Anderson) and 2 hours coming home. He elected to work from home today and I'll probably drive him in to work in the mornings next week. I'm sure thankful I work 3 kms from my house!

Surprisingly, the trip this morning wasn't too bad. I left about 10 mins earlier today and got to heritage station at about 650am. There were three 201 buses waiting. The buses filled and left rather quickly. I'd imagine they have a constant stream of those buses during the morning and noon rush hours. The bus emptied at city hall, where most people hopped on the train to continue on. Really impressed with how smooth it worked this morning. Hopefully this afternoon's ride will be just as smooth.

Guessing a lot of people took today off for an extra long weekend, because the drive into downtown was as easy as on a weekend

6 towers lost total power this morning right before 8.
We are in Scotia and lost ours and I heard Suncor/Petro Can lost it as well.
We were sent home after it was clear it was going to take a while to fix and the heat was going to be brutal.

Yup, BP lost power just around 8 am. Good thing I hadn't made it upstairs yet, I had my kid with me (we were heading to a doctor's appt just after 9) and would have had to carry her down 26 flights of stairs. I got a "go home" text from my boss around 10:15.
