See I can make up crap too.

Hit the bottle and go to sleep and comeback in September when the roster is set so you can complain and make up stuff all at once

Looking at Jones stats he had an off year last year. I expect a rebound.

This looks like a deal designed to ensure that the Flames get a high draft pick this season.

Flames got the two worst players in the deal, for the same cap hit, and the players they got likely don't have any upside left.

Just a bad trade for the Flames IMO.

I like Tanguay but he had to go. There was no room on LW for him if we wanted to give Baertschi quality playing time.

I also like Sarich and couldn't understand why he didn't dress consistently unless he's playing injured. I think he's probably damaged goods and his career will be over soon.

The return, I'll wait to see how they fit in and produce but we needed to get bigger and younger, especially at RW.

I guess Cammalleri will be the next to go since he wants out but I wouldn't be anxious to move him. I think he plays a solid game and can play some centre. He also played okay after his buddy was moved, despite his heart not being in it, so once he hits the ice his competitive instincts take over not like Tanguay's.

It's not like Tanguay and Sarich had any upside for this team. they are both 34 and 35.

I'm thinking Jones and O'Brien are more of just a placeholder until our prospects are ready to come up. I dunno... It's a very meh trade.

Hey it happens, but we'll get another crack at the play-offs next year and you guys will have Shane O'Brien planning the year-end Vegas trip for April by December.

What's the big bar there, Cowboys? They must be rubbing their hands together.

Well you can't really compare the 2 because Glencross had a grand total of 15 NHL goals between 3 seasons, while Jones had been developing into a solid 20 goal scorer when he got his last contract. So yes, Glencross' contract of 1.2 million was better than Jones 4 million. Jones is a safer bet than Glencross was to be a top 6 player for us (Which isn't really what Calgary wants I don't think, at least long term).

Anyways, yes, Jones' contract is worse than Glencross'. Why is that a terrible thing to you though? He is not an anchor, he is not a liability on the ice, and we aren't a good team right now. Having or not having Jones on our team isn't going to make a big difference one way or the other 3 years from now. I'm very, very confident about that.

The only asset Jones has is his shot. He is awful to below average in every other aspect.

Luckily for us, your opinion doesn't matter at all.

Personally, I'd say Tanguay > Jones > SOB > Sarich.

One can argue Sarich is better than SOB, but to say Sarich is the 2nd best player in the deal is ridiculous.

If you can say he's a 10 point 3rd liner then I can say he's a 27 goal scorer, which he did the year before.
2 years before, fact checker

And I realise that he once scored 45 points, but he has definitely regressed with each passing season all the way down to where he is now. For the record I dont think he will cap out at 10 points, but I also dont expect him to get back to his ~40 point pace even though he is very much paid as such.

A 34 and 35 year old have upside?

And Tanguay and Sarich are just oozing with upside, aren't they?

Hey I wasn't planning on going there, I had simply wanted to make fun of Shane O'Brien. Your compatriot wanted the play-offs to be a focal point, so I let it!

And at this point in his career, the only asset Tanguay has is his pass. He is awful to below average in every other aspect (and yes that includes his shot, if you only use it once every 3 games you can't rate it as an above average shot). So again, why is this a bad trade? It's a total meh trade that seriously won't make a real difference to our team, other than get some old guys out of here. And if Jones shows that his last season was a blip, well, all the better for us.

Are you sure you're that confident in that statement?

And even if you are, I love how the statement has regressed from 'another shot at the cup' to 'another crack at making the playoffs'
