Still might - would just mean he'd be getting NHL money while playing there.

It's a no-brainer the Oilers should go after him, imagine... 3 Schultz' on defence!!! That could win them a trophy next year

The more guys with first name Ryan and the last name Schultz the better.

That's not exactly fair. Lemieux chased paychecks just as much, it's just that Pittsburgh gave into him. When Jagr left, the Pens were pretending to be poor.

More than pretending. They owed Lemieux so much in backpay that they had to give it to him in ownership stake. The Pens were poor.

Fair enough.
I actually have an old newpaper that I came across a few weeks ago where a 22 year-old Lemieux was threatening to sit out until he and other top players would get paid what they deserved. He was demanding huge money for the standards back then and was a huge proponent of salary escalation.
I'm not saying that it was or wasn't warranted, but he certainly never took a discount.

You'd never ask Michael Jordan to take a discount.

True enough. I just think it's funny that it was insinuated that he was someone who was loyal and Jagr was a money chasing European. Both players had a reasonable price for their loyalty.

Let's guess:
1) Linus Omark for a 6th round pick.
2) Kevin Lowe makes the final payment to Putin for the Super Bowl ring, making him a seven time winner.

Hell of a trade for the Oilers.
My guess is that one is for Paul Ranger.

Isn't Ranger UFA? Thought he only signed an AHL contract to play with the Marlies last season for one year.

Him being Bob Mackenzie would explain why he's always right. When oilerfan says something, it's usually worth listening.
