With a lot of luck and a great deal of patience. They should probably just head north now if they think your flight is going to land, while Deerfoot is still open. But as it is already closed southbound, and with Glenmore, Memorial and Blackfoot are all impassable, your options are limited. They could go down 52nd street to 22X, but it has been very slow all day, and will only get worse with Deerfoot shut down. Stoney to 84th street and south is also an option, but will also be backed up. 100th Street is also a possibility. Not sure how the south end of Barlow will be.
If need be, this option won't be as busy at 52nd. Go east on the 22x and take the 791 (Indus) north to the TransCanada highway.

We don't know for certain that there are in fact casualties, they are reports based on what witnesses told RCMP. Nothing firm yet.
For anyone with friends in Medicine Hat who may be close to the river, CTV just said this:

To all the emergency service people on CP - thank you so much for your continuing efforts to help us all in this disaster. I'd imagine many of you won't read this as you're out there now and will be balls-out for the foreseeable future. I'm drawing a bit of a blank for names, and I don't want to single any one person out, but guys like jar_e come to mind.
I know there's a lot of people that are bringing them food and coffee right now, but I think that in the weeks and months following the flood and cleanup, we should all go out of our way to thank the police, firefighters, military, paramedics, EMTs, etc. If you see one in line at the local coffee shop or convenience store, pick up their tab. It's the least any of us can do.

3rd floor thankfully, though with that much water, I'm wondering if it'll damage more than just the basement and 1st floor, like condemn the whole building or something??
I wonder if any insurance will cover my tenant if the building has to be empty for an extended period.
The ones on the block south of those had one of the buildings go up in flames while it was being built, and they were putting out small files on top of all the surrounding buildings and stuff all day. I was sitting right about where that video was taken the whole afternoon watching them fight the fires, they had a helicopter with a bucket getting water out of the river and everything.
I'll find the pictures I scrounged up then and upload them.
Ah good to hear your place is on 3rd floor. I'm not sure what happens if the building is significantly damaged on the bottom floor. If it actually makes into those units I assume a lot of work would need to be done, but I would think the rest of the building would still be habitable (although probably not enjoyable).
The Jumbo tron is not in jeopardy of being destroyed, in terms of the Jumbo tron itself. It's not hovering 20 feet below the surface. It's the room where the electronic equipment used to control the Jumbo tron that's been likely destroyed.
They lower the jumbtron to ice level when the buildings not in use sometimes.

Just did an IP trace for Dion seeing as many are concerned. He almost exclusively posts from his home PC, I couldn't find any posts made from a mobile device. So his lack of posts is consistant with him not being home.

This is a good time to reiterate that for anyone who is at their own house and not affected by evacuation, please review your Emergency Preparedness Kit.
Everyone in your family should have a 72 hour kit of the basic necessities needed to survive on your own for 72 hours. If you have to evacuate your home, you would take this kit with you. If you are stranded in your home, you will have this kit available to you.
Everyone should have one in their home as well as their vehicle.

A nearby Safeway was apparently out of water by 9:30 am this morning. Park lot was full of people and line ups were huge already.
