Again for what it is worth, EB now has it live for preorder. Also for 499.

I didn't realize, but I wonder if their rumored yield sSRAM problems fit into the pricing. Heck, if you know you are going to be constrained there is no point at having a low/comparative price.

Sony will have the same DRM policies because the policies are set by the publishing companies and not by Sony or Microsoft.

well glad to see the decision was easy.
was a ps1 and ps2 guy, then moved to the xbox 360 as i only really play the multi-console friendly sports games (ie. EA sports) based primarly on the fact that i didn't need a blu ray player, but more importantly at the time (fresh out of uni) went for the cheaper platform. My gaming hasn't really changed, mostly only play nhl/madden/fifa and maybe a game like assassins creed once a year, i'll easily switch back to sony and go for the ps4.
i thought i'd be having to wait a year or two and get whichever console got to 300-400 bucks first, but if the ps4 starts at 400, i'll be on the sony console before xmas 2014.
i hated the always on kinect/camera, the need for an online connection, just stupid stupid decisions. microsoft got way too ahead of themselves.
i would also say, for an industry so reliant on marketing, etc, i found both console reveal paths to be extremely ridiculous. so much fluff, misinformation and confusion. I could have put together a more excitement garnering presentation, getting out the key juicy points to the end user in a frigin powerpoint slide presentation. just brutal sales and marketing job done for these presentations by both companies. MS took it a step furher with the way they relayed such bad features out to the public. sony perhaps got it right as they had the 'what not to do' lesson learned.

How was Sony's reveal bad? They said nothing at all until the actual reveal itself, which is how most every other industry works. And kudos to them for that, you know someone was just dying to say something with the trainwreck that's been Xbone. This literally couldn't have worked out better for Sony, Microsoft set themselves up for a huge fall and PS4 comes along and sweeps the leg.

Way too tempted to pre-order both of the new systems right now.

You can always pre-order both now, and then cancel them in a couple months when you can make a more informed decision. None of the main retailers (Future Shop, Best Buy, Amazon) charge until the console ships anyway, so you have a ton of time to decide.
I ordered both already, but the PS4 specifically has skyrocketed in public opinion after tonight, so I wouldn't risk it in waiting too long to pre-order.

Why not? You can always cancel before release or physically return it before opening it.

Microsoft wants to accommodate you: buy a system quickly enough and you'll get the limited Day One Edition. While the core system won't change, you'll get to flaunt your early adopter status through both a slightly customized controller and a special Xbox Live achievement.

Missed the boat on Amazon, will have to be quick on BB and Futureshop.
Ordered the XBox One though, figure if I decide not to keep it I'll have one of the limited Day One Editions that I would be able to get rid of quite easily.

I went and preordered a PS4 from futureshop. Sorry Microsoft I loved my 360 but for $100 less, still being able to play used games, and not needing an internet connection every 24 hours I just couldn't pass it up. I will miss your controller but eventually I will get over that I suppose.

I ordered both as well. I've owned every Sony and Microsoft console to date and I didn't see anything from either to prevent me from changing things. All my online gaming will be on Xbox One as I'm not paying for two online services and if I have to choose which one to pay for it's a pretty easy decision.
