I was surprised we did not hear anything about the pricing model where if you sign up for 3 years of Xbox live you get the console at a discount. Is that model gone now?
People complaining about price are absolutely insane.
Brand new next-gen console at launch for $500 or a great gaming rig PC for $1500.
$500 is damn cheap at launch price. 4K TVs are going for $20,000.
As said before, being an early adopter...you have to pay the price...
Wait 2 years and maybe save $100.....pretty stupid thinking really.
Honestly, I have thought nothing of console price in the past, and this is coming from a guy with pretty much every available console and a high end PC.
My issue is value received. Why do I have to pay for the Kinect component that I do not want?? Why do I have to pay for a console that I cannot play off-line? Tack on Xbox Live fees which I honestly see with diminishing value next to PS+.
If you want me to pay 500 for a console (more in Canada because eff you Canada) Make it mine. When this thing launches, you may not even be able to play games because the servers are overloaded.
Is it a different time? Those 4k TVs cost as much as a new car.
You can get a 55 inch 4k for just $5.5k but pricing has never really stopped me too much though. In the grand scheme of it though, the "mainstream" buyer is probably going to give pause at half a grand though.
Like somebody pointed out, an iPad is roughly the same price with apps/game that are $1 each. It will be a comparison that parents will be making.
just like with the current gen, i will likely stick with my 360 until the next gen pricepoint comes down to something a bit more reasonable (~300).
Has there been any comment on whether NHL/Madden will be released on the 360 for 2014/2015? When they drop support for the 360 is likely what may unfortunately accelerate my jump to the next gen.
If you mean next years games (releasing August and September 2014) then no they have not mentioned that yet, they are still working on this years edition.
Will nhl/madden 2015/2016 be available on both current and next gen consoles? Do we have any hint on when these games will be available on the new gens only?

I'm pretty sure I answered your question.
Madden 25/NHL 14 release August and September 2013. Madden on both NHL on 360 only.
Madden 26/NHL 15 release August and September 2014. No word word yet on what consoles they are releasing on. Based on the last round of consoles we should see this on the 360 and One.
Madden 27/NHL 16 release August and September 2015. Obviously no word, but based on the previous consoles this would be on the One only, but it's worth noting that NHL 08 was on PS2, just not on the original Xbox.

Eh? Pre-order it and lock in the price if you are worried about that.
Hell, I pre-ordered the $150 Metal Gear Solid CE this year for $60 during the E3 preorder sale last year. Honored the price.
Pre-ordering it won't lock in the price, there have been many times I pre-ordered a game at say $49.99 and it was actually $59.99.
You maybe have gotten lucky with that deal because I can honestly say that the price was never honored, and they usually have fine print stating the price is subject to change.

Important to note once the sports games get into the next gen, the previous gen tends to get a lot less attention (roster update and maybe a new feature or two).
One commenter mentioned that I would not be surprised if the most expensive price point $599, also included the Vita due to the awesome remote play functionality.
