I would guess some variation of Stoll and Penner would go to make room ($6.5M).

How do people feel about signing either Raymond or Stalberg as a speedy 2nd/3rd line winger?

Stalberg would be a very weak third liner but i guess to fill a spot while we try to get picks it would work.
Raymond seems like adding more softness to a butter soft team.

Agreed.
Bryan Bickell would be my target if we were adding yet another winger through unrestricted free agency.

Rather they went after Bryan Bickell. I wonder if $2 million a year for 2 years would get it done?

Double both of those and you're in the ballpark.

I could see 4 years, but i can't see $4 million a year. He made league minimum this year or just over. His play was good but no $4million a year good.

Ya, I don't see Bickel at 4 mil... UFA time does get crazy sometimes though... That'd be a huge overpayment

Just watch. Bad UFA market and coming off a pretty impressive playoff with 5 goals in 12 games so far. Some mid-tier teams are going to be projected him with more than .4-.5 ppg playing a more core role in their teams. He is 6'4 and plays like it. He is going to get a big pay day.

OK - here's the players I think we could move Tangs for with a bad contract and a sweetener (prospect/pick) coming back:
Daniel Briere if we waives his NMC
David Booth
Keith Ballard
Rotislav Olesz
Steve Montador - if he gets healthy again
Tomas Kablerle
Mattias Ohlund
Joel Ward
Paul Martin
Martin Havlat
Dany Heatley
Willie Mitchell - Darryl doesn't seem to like him
Brad Richards - if he doesn't get a chance with new coach
Ville Leino
Shawn Horcoff
Tomas Fleischmann
Kris Versteeg
Scott Upshall
RJ Umberger
Brandon Dubinsky
James Wisnewski
Fydor Tutin
Ray Whitney
Erik Cole
Milan Michalek
Shane O'Brien
Apart from Richards (who we have had interest in), left out the crippling 10+ year deals. But a good list of players who might be available in exchange for Tanguay given their unfavorable contracts. Some of the above may be bought out if their ownership will allow and as a result may not be up for trade.

Havlat, Heatley and Fleischmann are interesting to me. Just because they are shorter term deals and won't hurt the re-build while they get a shot a getting their careers back on track.
Upshall has always been a favorite of mine so I would like him as well. Booth is a coin flip, just do not know what you're going to get from him.
Dubinsky is also interesting but I don't think he will be leaving Columbus.

Tyutin and Wisniewski are top 2-4 defensemen, of a decent age, and have pretty fair market deals....I can't see either of them being bought out. If there is even a hint of that possibly and inexplicably happening, Feaster should get on the horn and immediately offer our two 7th rounders in this years draft for the two of them....save the BJ's some money.
Ray Whitney only has one year left on his deal, and put up nearly a point per game this season....not a buy out candidate either IMO.
Milan Michalek is also a head scratcher for me, as to why he would be on the above list.
EDIT - not a buy out list made by FFIV, my mistake.

Any whispers about Dany Heatley almost give me an aneurysm.
I think his listless, lack of urgency, lazy, apathetic floating ass is precisely what this team needs to move away from.
We need urgency, hustle, drive and determination. Heatley encompasses zero of these traits.

True enough, but another way to look at it is that he is going into the final year of his contract, I'd imagine the hope of another big pay day could put a little more pep in his step.
If he does have a great year, he would be an asset to move at the deadline as a rental, if he doesn't have a good year you just let him walk and lose almost nothing as long as the cost to acquire him was low.

He is also a player I can see flourishing under Hartleys up tempo system. Still has slick hands and a wicked shot. And when he is interested, still has good speed. Not trying to sell him to anyone but just pointing out a good change for him with Hartley (who incidentally coached him in ATL) could be beneficial to the Flames.

I bet he gets the same contract Joel Ward got with the Capitals after his big playoffs with Nashville. 4 years 12 million.

Reason why i picked the Blue Jackets is that they have undergone regime change and Davidson and team might want to reverse some of the questionable moves made by Howson.
Whitney - same thing, Nill might want to free up an extra million and put his stamp on his team.
Michalek - injury woes and would save Ottawa an extra 800K while replacing Michalek's points.
Hope Feaster considers acquiring some of these players (outside of any potential Tangs deal)if we can get picks and prospects coming back as well. Getting rid of Cammy and his cap hit would further allow us to take on another teams' problems to our benefit.

Heater loves Calgary and obviously has roots here. I ran into him downtown in the mid 2000's and asked him if he would ever play for the Flames. "tell Darryl to throw a contract at me" was his answer. Not that I'm advocating getting Heatley, but if he was going to bring his A game anywhere, I suspect it could be in Calgary. If not then he gets flipped at the deadline or we don't re-sign him after the years up. Low risk IMO

RE: The Original FFIV,
I'm pretty sure Willie Mitchell has been injured forever. I'm pretty sure Darryl loved the guy. He was certainly a key cog in last year's Cup win.
