my guess is Iggy will take a couple mil less to stay with the Pens a star roster team. Where Iggy can thrive in a support role instead of being expected to provide more than he can in these next 2-4 seasons to come.
4.5-5.5 per for 3 years is what he probably gets.

I bet he has already recieved an offer from Pit which is why he was so quick to sell his mansion here.
I think he wants to stay in Pit and the team ownership has done everything to make his family comfortable there.

I suspect he was quick to sell his house here because he no longer works here, and as it is not his off season residence, why keep it?

Option A: hang on to a house in a city that you won't see for minimum 6 months, presuming your gamble on Pitt works out and you get a Cup and the Flames have you in next year's plans, or if not, then longer, years
Option B: take 4 million in cash

Pretty simple answer that really has nothing to do with Pittsburgh making some kind of offer

Not a chance in hell. They have Malkin, Letang, Kunitz, etc all coming up after next year. If he stays with the Pens it will be a 1 yr max.

Those guys have been pretty important role players for the Penguins. Will be interesting to see how things play out as say what you want about Cooke he's become a very solid role player. I expect they will try hard to keep Dupuis and go from there.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Penguins play hard ball with Dupuis. He's 34 years old and hasn't put up huge numbers until he started playing with Crosby.

He's having one heck of a season.. but if I were the Pens I'd let him walk and let someone overpay big time when he's a UFA and watch him crash next year.

Dupuis will be the Penguins top priority amongst the UFAs.

How do you play hard ball with a UFA??? Are the Flames playing hardball with all the UFa's they don't make an offer too?

Are the Flames going to play hardball with Dupuis as well?

If Iggy and Dupuis want the same money, I think Iginla would be the one kept.

He's not a UFA yet. He will be but he isn't yet. My guess is there will still be negotiations up until he is a UFA.

Playing hardball = Letting him walk.

All replaceable. All have speed, but are all replaceable. Dupuis is nothing, and i mean nothing without Crosby. His numbers are so inflated its stupid. Cooke and Kennedy are definitely role players that a lot of guys can fill, although cooke is a pain and is known league wide. He tends to get teams off their game.

Iginla is twice the player Dupuis ever was. Kunitz had a career year with Crosby too. Tim Jackman would score 20 goals with Crosby as well. No joke. Crosby is that good.

in the last 24 games since Iginla became a Penguin

Iginla 8 goals

Dupuis 11 goals

Dupuis gets 2-3 minutes more ice time.

Dupuis is making 1.5 M this year and Iginla 7M..... you figure Iginla will figure he is worth only half what the Flames have been paying him.

Doubling Dupuis's contract to 3 M leaves him 1M less than Hudler ..

dupuis has 80 goals in the last 4 years Hudler 68

Dupuis is an averaged sized forward 6-1 200 Hudler is one of the smallest players in the league.

Iginla might be worth more if you want to sell tickets.... but hard to argue he will be a better player next season.

It's not like Dupuis is some young up and comer, he's a year younger then Iginla who had one hell of a season playing with the best player in the game.

I could see that. Dupuis has speed, size and grit. He also can play up and down in the lineup. I don't think they will be able to re-sign Dupuis. Penguins will probably want 1 year contracts for support players next year. This could be Dupuis best chance to make some money, and will probably get a multi year deal, with more money, to a team with cap space.

Penguins will probably start contract talks first with Dupuis, but will go to Iggy shortly after. My gut tells me Iggy will accept a 1 year deal and might even go down as low as $3 million to stay with the Pens.

I don't agree. If both would accept the same offer of a 1 year deal at $2.5-$3 million, i think Pitt would take Dupuis.
