Default Where does Iginla play next year?

The Penguins have 7.8M in cap space left for 2013-14 to sign 5 players to get to a 23 player roster. That is 1.5M per player

They have no players making more than 2M/yr that are non-essential.

They have Dupuis who as a UFA has scored 20 goals in the regular season and 6 in the playoffs making him their leading goal scorer .... He made 1.5M this year.

I can't see how Iginla can be worked into their cap space for 2013-14.

Where will he play next year?

I'm going to guess LA but I am a little worried that the Oilers may try to sign him. He is the kind of player they need plus the home sweet home factor.

I still think Pitt makes it work somehow. My guess is Iggy re-signs at $4 million.

Even if he wins the cup, he still won't be coming back to Calgary.

Rangers need help on the PP; he'd work there for hockey reasons; no idea about cap

haha if he signs with the Oilers it will be because he just won a cup with the Penguins and is looking for another pay day. It will have nothing to do with a home sweet home factor. Iginla is 35 years old, he hasn't called St. Albert home since he was what, 15?

He signs a Hossa-like 1 year deal in Pitts. After next year they need to re-sign Malkin, Kunitz, Orpik, Letang, Niskanen, and Vokoun. That is when he will move on.

Summer of 2014 he will move on to another contender. LA, Chi, Bos. Maybe Phi or Det.

LA will not have the cap space either.

Looking at cap space and players signed my first guess is Detroit. Followed by St. Louis and Ottawa.

He'll take a paycut to stay in Pittsburgh. Why would he flee two guys (Crosby, Malkin) who are going to prolong his career by making life so easy for him he can show up and get 70 points? As to returning to Edmonton, well, people don't leave Edmonton with the intention of coming back (unless you're Ryan Smyth), its sort of a "Please get me the hell out of here' type city.

Why would the Pens do that when they can bring back Dupuis for a lot cheaper? Given their cap situation I cannot see Iggy back there unless they can dump a Paul Martin or something.

Detroit has room if they let 2 of Fippula, Brunner and Cleary walk.

St.L does not have as much room as it appears as they will be signing RFA's Pietroangelo and Shattenkirk , Berglund and Stewart. The 24M disappears fast with these contracts.... however they have room for Iginla at 4M or so if they spend to the cap.....this year they were 18M lower than the cap.... so that would be a shocking change in direction for them.

Hard to say. Ottawa maybe?

At this point they have the 6th most cap space of any team for next season ($22 million), and a really solid young team that managed to make the post season without the services of their best center (Spezza), their best defenseman (Karlsson), their best winger (Michalek) and their #1 goalie (Anderson) for most of the season.

All those players are signed for next year and should be healthy for next season, plus many of their young up and comers could take a step forward next season....all that and the previously mentioned $22 million in cap space.

Their only notable UFA's are Alfie, Latendresse and Gonchar.

Cause Iginla is better? And if he isn't, then why would Dupuis be cheaper ?

Pitts will probably buy out Fleury as well in the offseason for more cap room

I'm not certain he wants to come back. If he does come back, I say Pit.
