Soo sad the flames missed the chance to have a crack at him.

You have to remember he's only just turning 18 in a week and more often than not goalies in their draft year aren't even starters of their CHL teams. Makarov is two years older than him and that makes a huge difference.

Very fair point. I have only seen him 6 maybe 7 times year and he just never seems as good as the hype...especially early in the year when some talked about him top 5 or 6.

I've watched him for two years and Tristan Jarry will be the best goalie in this draft year and is a better prospect than Laurent Brossoit.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if Jarry turns out as the best goalie in this draft. It's a long way to go for goalies to develop and he's ranked as 3rd among goalies on some scouting lists so he's in the mix among the top currently.

Updated the first post.
I was surprised to see Saskatoon win, good for them.

I really see nothing special about Seth Jones so far, looks butter soft and rushes passes when pressed.

I agree, and also with all those who have commented on his compete level.
I am also always leery of players that dominate junior because of their size. He simply won't have that size dominance in the NHL. And he will be tested physically on a regular basis - nothing I have seen from him so far suggests that he will dish it back.
Personally, I would much rather draft a dominant skater than someone who is dominant due to size. Compete level is also paramount. Then add in the D vs F argument. No contest for me who I would want.

Wow Domi! What a pass!
Also, I don't think Rattie was riding Sven's coat tails.

That was a spectacular goal. What a pass. Oh and I really want Horvat to still be available for the St. Louis pick.

That between the legs saucer was the sickest pass I've seen in a while. Domi looks like a first line talent.

Would be very nice if the Flames could somehow get Domi with their 2nd pick.

Domi or Horvat are guys worth trading up for.
Does anyone feel like Jones benefits more from playing with Wotherspoon than vice versa?

Man it would be great to get Horvat with that 2nd pick (or even moving up from the 2nd pick to get him). Big centre.

I don't know how much stock you can put into one tournament but if I was an Avalanche fan seeing what I have seen in this tournament I would rather the team take McKinnon and trade their for defensive help. To me he looks like by far the best player.

Is there some kind of tractor show on, or are the riders scrimmaging or something - the number of empty (but presemably paid for) seats is stunning........

It appears the only thing the province cares about is Riders football. Like has been said it was always a joke to think this province could support an NHL team. They would be expected to fill an NHL arena at NHL prices which is much different than a small football stadium 9 times a year at $30-40 a seat.

The bottom rows of the CUC never get filled unless they are selling out, the glass is absolutely terrible there, but ya that arena is like half full tonight.

They're already set on centers, I can't see them drafting MacKinnon unless they have a strong feeling ROR will end up leaving. In which case they might draft, MacK, and trade ROR for D help.

Based on where he's ranked, and who his father is, I'll be very surprised if he makes it past the Leafs.
Well, that was a quick two goals.
