That is an absolutely horrific video. Even from that 'underneath' angle you tell the nose is up at a ridiculous pitch. Extremely tragic for the crew on board.

Sort of a strange question, but I live on the west end of town and heard one of the loudest planes I have ever heard fly over my house at about 11pm tonight. So loud I expected to see flames coming out of the engines or the tail right outside my window. Just wondering if anyone knows of a special plane landing at the airport tonight, or if the obnoxious sound was caused by something else? It lasted much louder than I would typically expect jet noise to last ~1-2 minutes...

Hmm, I'm not aware of any unique visitors to YYC yesterday.
The day the 787 comes to YYC, the parking lot by runway 34 will be completely full. Provided of course the wind is in favour for landing runway 34. And yes, I will be there.
Nothing yet, but I believe the LHR-YYC flight is the longest 763 route that BA flies right now. So it would benefit the most right away from the better economics of the 787.

Only $50,000? I know what I'm asking for for my birthday! That's foolishly affordable
That's just the reserve.
We received some good news last week when our podunk airport was given a retired FedEx 727 to use for aircraft rescue training exercises. FedEx is moving toward primarily 757 and A-300 aircraft for their fleet.
I remember seeing this bird around YBW in my flight training days.
Reports are that one engine failed, and notably the single engine service ceiling for the Cougar would be around 4500' in ideal conditions. So no surprise he ended up settling onto terra firma. Good job by the pilot and glad he is ok.
Haha just at the bar tonight, found out I quite closely know the pilot.
