If true - then everyone is missing the real story. They didn't who up in the entire season - one supposed bad call shouldn't erase that.

In the history of bad calls - this one is near the bottom of the list. It was a borderline call barely worthy of any additional thought.

What the media/fans should be talking about is what is wrong with the team and how did they get to the point.

Anything other than that is a nice distraction to make everyone feel better about the state of the franchise.

Perhaps if he was still a consistent All-Star goalie someone takes that chance, but personally, I think his value is negative.
He totally has negative trade value. I was scoffed at when i said it would take the Canucks 1st rounder to be packaged with Luigi to get him out of town. haha.

Thats what it's going to take to get rid of Michelin man.

Either way, I hope Vancouver keeps whining about the refs. It'll really ensure that bad calls never go against them in the future.

Just more whining from the whiners.

BTW - is it whining, or whinging? I've seen both. Looks like the latter is British:

whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.

The state of the franchise is the more important story, no question about it and talk is slowly starting to shift away from the call and onto the team going forward.

The talk of the call is just emotion running its course.

Kelly Sutherland has reffed 20 Canuck games and in 19 of them their opponents have had more power plays

interesting

Not really. The Canucks break the rules more than all other teams.

My biggest issue with the debating on the call is the claim that the hit was "shoulder to shoulder", when in the context of boarding it really makes no difference. And when people use that as a reasoning for it being a bad call it's difficult not to question their hockey knowledge in general.

Maybe Vancouver should grab some dicipline.

Through the regular season the Canucks had 165 pp opportunities and 169 penalty kills(NHL.com stats breakdown)

maybe you should get a breakdown of Sutherland's track record with other teams.

Not really. While every team has plays they tend to get away with, the Canucks have some of the best players in the world when it comes to "stick work". Perhaps Kelly just calls stick infractions more than other officials.

Also lol conspiracy theory!

before this goes any further

it's not a conspiracy, last night was a bad call, and the call he made on AV in the Calgary game (if all he yelled out was "that's an Elbow" which everyone says) was worse

but it's just a statistical anomaly

of the Canucks thought there was anything going on they would tell the league and he wouldn't get Canucks games and especially playoff games

Auger never got another Canucks game after the incident

Almost certain he's had a couple since, but the first one was about a year after the incident.

edit: One year to the date actually.

Except we had several people at that game that heard AV lose his nut and abuse the referee, I was at that game and AV did not just say "Sir it was an elbow" so AV was dishonest when he said that he said "It was just an elbow". Again trying to embarrass a ref.

was that during the game or at that time?

I heard the media say when he got the penalty, that all he yelled out was that's an elbow

According to you... and other Canucks fans/media. Most of the rest of hockey world has seen it as at worst, a soft call, but a call that was well within the rules to be called a penalty. If you agree that it should be a rule is irreverent as far as this discussion goes.

You can not like it all you want, but claiming it and other calls to which you have little info it appears as many people at the game heard him say more than "it was an elbow", as "bad calls" as a fact is a tad foolish.
