For those who enjoyed Sekeres' ten minutes on the post game show last night, you can have four hours of it starting in twenty minutes.

I agree that Schneider gets the better return. Lou at best can get a 5-7th round pick if they do not want to take salary back. More than likely waivers for no money back.

It's a tough sell for the fan base and to Lou, on trading Schneider. The team is going to get worse and the fanbase will blame Lou and his contract for it. Lou will know that he is not their first choice. You don't pull Lou after 2 games and go with Schneider, if you don't think Schneider is your goalie going forward.

Like i said in an earlier post, i think Lou walks into exit interview and demands a trade.

Only options they have is:
1) compliance buyout luongo -> that's a lotta dough for any franchise to simply throw away.
2) trade luongo -> they'd have to hold onto a lot of salary/etc to make this work, and likely not get much in return
3) trade scheider -> likely do get desirable assets in return

put him on waivers watch him get picked up in 45 seconds

0% chance he's bought out

are there teams out there that can afford him from 1) budget perspective, 2) cap perspective, without trading back salary ??

luongo is easily a top10 goalie in the league. tons of teams that would want him, that isn't the question, it's how many teams can afford it that is problematic.

No kidding, talon takes him for nothing. And gets mackinnon next year too. FLA would be almost instantly fixed.

i cant recall but what was Torontos offer for Luongo, wasnt Kadri part of it? and if so, they clearly missed the boat on trading him at that time.

While I can see some of the similarities between the post-04 Flames and the current Canucks, the Canucks are so much more of a mess than the Flames of that period. The Luongo/Scheneider situation was going to be ridiculously difficult to navigate to begin with, and then Gillis had to let his pride get in the way and now its a catastrophe. The one minor advantage for the Canucks is they are in cap jail and will be forced to make moves, unlike the Flames who simply chose not to.

Question is will the Canucks go scorched earth or minor tweaks? Obviously all depends on Gillis's job. If he gets canned then its gotta be scorched earth, but if he survives his job is on the line again next year, meaning he'll be operating trying to win the Cup, a futile goal at this point for a team thats 1-8 in its last 9 first round postseason games against an 8 and a 6 seed.

Rumor was Kadri and Bozak while Burke was GM.

Only time worth listening to that show is Fridays around 1:30.

Worth noting at June draft Canucks could've had Kadri, Bozak and a pick for Luongo. Got greedy. Now have lost as many as have won.

Can see why VAN hoped to get Kadri for Luongo. Can see why Leafs said no bloody chance.

it's hilarious how much weight is being put on the refs by the vancouver media rather than the craptastic offense, craptastic goaltending, and craptastic coaching/gm'ing as the root cause for the craptastic finish to the season.

A few thoughts.

I would rather see that penalty called than all the crappy nearly hooked him calls that get made 10 times a game. At first glance it looked like a dirty hit, which is what the ref saw. After some replays slowed way down I'm a little on the fence but I definitely lean towards penalty.

Reffing had no bearing on the outcome. For the most part the Sharks had the edge in offensive zone pressure which leads to penalties. They were the aggressor and the better skaters, more penalties.

Make no mistake, Luongo wants out. He wanted out last year when he went to Gillis with the trade me request. Luo wants out.

Rumor around the bowels of Rogers was that there could very well be a clean sweep of management Gillis on down to AV. Change is needed and should and will come.

On Schneider and his vaunted save percentage...with goalies it is not about the saves you make it is all about the ones you don't. Schneider still lets in softies and he looked terrible in this playoffs. Puck control was awful. I love the predicament that is the canucks galtending.

These 1040 guys are ######s, especially the guy talking now about running around trying to get to the refs. Your team sucks, deal with it.

So is there even a point of an exit interview?

When can we expect to hear the announcement from Gillis that AV has been fired, while sweating at the press conference?

Sekeres (sp) seems convinced that call was pure revenge on the ref's part. Sad really.

You keep saying this, but what team out there can afford to bring on a goalie with $5.3M/year cap hit till 2022 ,and a salary of 6.7M/year till 2018, without shedding some serious salary? Perhaps if he was still a consistent All-Star goalie someone takes that chance, but personally, I think his value is negative.

Our poll ?: What best explains Daniel Sedin's penalty in overtime last night? a) Right call; b) Honest mistake; c) Referee settled a score.
