The only thing bad about that penalty call is the context. First period of the 12th game of the season, that's a penalty and nobody questions it. Relative to what usually gets called in overtime of an elimination playoff game, however, it could be argued as weak.
But, as Timbit suggested a few pages back, that was pretty much sweet justice given it was the Canucks on the wrong end of a soft call late in the game.
Funny to see Daniel Sedin come unglued at the end. The refs gave him a misconduct after the game for being a whiny little bitch.

tough to blame the reffing constantly when you are 1-10 in your last 11 playoff games, but they will anyways... watching Kesler play, how did he ever get 40 goals in a year?

Yep. The first 4 game sweep in the history of sports where the most deserving team came out on the losing end. Sharks are definately very lucky to get out of the first round this season.

So where does this leave Vancouver in regards to where they draft? Does winning a division play into it or is it all decided by overall points?

As long as Gillis is pulling the trigger on the pick does it matter?

This could be a very expensive offseason for the canucks depending on who they buyout and how they can move Luongo.

Playing golf today with 3 die hard canuck fans. Got plenty of ammo to "smack talk" them off their game. The only rebutal i can think of is that they will say they will get a good pick from being swept. Hoping to get concrete info that the pick will not be as good as they think.
I agree Gillis drafting is horrible.

This is why a series of best of 7 is played, so that penalty calls will even out. One call typically does not determine the outcome of a series (unless you go back to the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals between Dallas/Buffalo series, but definitely not this one) - how the Canucks played determined their fate.

The Team1040 will be good excellent radio today! Can't wait until they interview Hughson, Ferraro, Garrett etc... One big cry fest.

Ballard and maybe Booth? I know it sounds crazy but I would consider buying out Burrows. He's got a $4.5 million cap hit until 2017 and while he's an okay player and 20 goal scorer he's slowing down and in a couple more years he's going to be reduced to a bottom 6 forward in the 10 goal range. Will be impossible to get rid of that deal down the road. Booth and Ballard's contracts while even worse will expire two years before Burrow's deal.

What a beautiful day.
Not only have the Canucks been eliminated in a sweep for the second time in 2 years, but they did so in a game where their goalie played terrible. The irony of Vancouver complaining about the officiating is so sweet. Maybe if the Sedins should try contributing to the offence and stop buttending players before complaining about the refs.
Beautiful day.

I was under the impression that with the new CBA draft order is dependent on standings finish and not how far you go in the playoffs..
Canucks are such a horrible team, not to take anything away from San Jose, but seriously a sweep? It isn't that they aren't skilled, it is just that they are in a horrible mind set, they need some radical changes to switch the mentality over there.
Went to bed with like 5 minutes left it was 3-2 Canucks, woke up and they were swept. Satisfied.

Good morning CP fellow members. What a great morning after reading the Herald's sports page that the Sharks eliminated the Canucks in OT. Hmmmm.. i cannot wait for my friend from Kamloops call just to bug me how sucked the Flames was this season. I doubt he will call though but knowing the Canucks are done this season makes the morning sweeter.
I guess Canucks will be doing some cleaning house after this. Who's going first? Vigneault or Gillis or both?

This is fantastic! What a great start to the day! Lots of whining on the 1040 this morning.
I could be 100% wrong here, but I really don't see Vancouver being able to keep Luongo and trade Schneider. I think they burned that bridge with the way the goaltending issue has been handled this year. Luongo has been as good as traded for the better part of a year and a half. I just don't see how they mend that relationship.
