Just logged in from Korea to laugh at the Canucks. And to feel the hate. I am not disappointed

What goes up must come down. What's discouraging from a Canucks fans perspective is that they have no really good looking prospects to bolster the lineup over the coming years as the core continues to decline. One thing you can say about the Sharks is that they have brought in guys like Pavelski and Couture over the years they were still considered contenders. Gillis have been riding the coattails of Nonis's team and hasn't been able to improve it with poor drafting and lackluster free agent acuisitions/trades. The past few years have really shown that Gillis is in over his head as a GM.

I caught myself during this game thinking "is this really a playoff game". Tempo and hitting wasn't what I expected but it was the first game. Plus there were signs that it would breakout into more of a battle. I think this series could get down and dirty nasty which would be fun to watch.

I wouldn't be writing the Canucks off just yet, its 1 game. It was great to see the Sharks take game 1, but they themselves are bigtime playoff underachievers.

However, I do agree that the Canucks are showing signs of falling from the heights they achieved the last few seasons. Remind me of where the Flames were about 3 years ago. I can still see them winning the series but I can't see another trip to the finals for this team. This will probably be the last attempt with the current core.

Probably 1 more. You try to squeeze everything you can out of a group because changing it is a long drawn out process

I agree. In fact I still expect the Canucks to win the series as the Sharks suck. Every season you know they are playoff fodder. Sure they may win a round or even two but they are frauds as Stanley Cup contenders and always have been. Even if they beat the Canucks we all know they aren't going much further.

I expect this Canucks team to get one more chance under a new coach then likely Gillis will get canned and the team dismantled.

Dude! Seriously

Anyways back to the Canucks

I just don't see anyone overly heroic in that lineup that's going to elevate that team

And Puppet Guy again

Dude

not to worry Cap - you only have to deal with Darla until the Canucks are gone.

they are little choclate 'pucks' - about an inch wide, maybe 3/8" thick. they used to carry them at save-on more in town, but i haven't seen them in quite some time. i originally bought them for when the flames played the other canadian teams (they only made the canadian teams)... so my buddies and i could 'devour' the flames competition (sorta like how we have hot wings when they play detroit, bison burgers when they play buffalo, frogs legs when they play the habs, etc.).

i came up with this idea and made sure to keep 4 of them for the playoffs.

i can not even come close to expressing my sheer delight when i get to knock that 4th and final one over EVERY year... i almost start to tear up i'm so happy!

No. Its 11 playoff games over the past two years in which the Canucks are 2–9, and in which they have lost five straight games at Rogers Arena.

Not much more so than the Canucks. Both teams were conference finalists in 2010, and both were out in five last season—although SJ was defeated by the higher seed.

What "heights"? The Canucks won only one playoff game last season, and were the weakest division leader in the WC, from the weakest division, incidentally finishing with only two more points than the Sharks.

If the Canucks want to get to round 2, then they must win at least one game in SJ—something that happened only twice in 24 games this season.

No. The window has slammed shut.

Luongo is starting Game 2:

Farhan Lalji@FarhanLaljiTSN43m
AV re Schneider's absence: "You can interpret what you want. He's day to day". #Luongo starts game 2 for #canucks.

And the Sharks cheat at faceoffs:

Farhan Lalji@FarhanLaljiTSN38m
As he did last night, AV says the #SJSharks "cheat" on face offs. Wasn't directly complaining, but clearly wants it out there. #canucks

Just getting the pre-game excuses out of the way early.

Kesler was acting "tough" right before the opening face-off. Not so tough during the game.
