Lets be honest here, this series might as well be called the Windows Closed series.

Showing that gif to Canucks fans in Richmond, and even they are laughing their asses off.

Another reason for that is because Jim Hughson isn't calling this series and yes they were also non-factors.

I didn't think about that until now; a pretty astute observation. I felt the same way about the Flames in 06 when they dropped the game 7 to Anaheim. It's not just about the team losing confidence, it's about the team demonstrating for all to see that they don't have that extra gear or ability to win the important series. The Canucks are now 2 wins in the last 11 playoff games; this is a team built to win in the regular season off dramatic simulation and diving and cashing in on the PP. They win in the regular season because it's softer, buttery like popcorn compared to the playoffs. They lack the integrity and character of a true winner. Other teams have guys like Crosby who will battle; Giroux; Richards; players who would propel themselves through a plate glass window for the cup. The only thing Burrows would propel himself into to win is a full out tail spin dive.

this is what happened to the Flames. go on a cup run, get in the playoffs a few more times and lose in the first round and four years missed. Very similar trajectories forming up.

I said at the start of the year that the Canucks window was closing rapidly. The core is getting older, guys like Kesler are getting creaky and they just don't seem to be able to elevate their game like they did in their run to the finals a couple of years back. They really lack that heart and soul type.
The fact that the top players just didn't show up in game one when they team as won the two of their last 9 playoff games and their leadership falls asleep at the wheel should cause some concern.

sorry for the late post...just got home from the rink after a big 'w'!!
there is a sports bar at the rink i was playing at tonight and from the rink you can see into the bar, so at our intermission i go to the glass to check the score. it was really late in the third 'cuz luuuuu was on the bench and a bunch of people in the bar motion to me '3 - 1'. i slowly lift my goalie mask, give them a big grin and then a few fist pumps. they must have liked my reaction becuz almost immediately there was about 15 people all telling me i was '#1' ha! ha! stupid canucks!

Not really an analogous situation. The Flames pinnacle of regular season success was in 05-06 where they finished 7th in the league. That's where the Canucks finished this year, in what people are calling a down year.
Perhaps their playoff fortunes will turn out to be similar, but comparing any iteration of the Flames in the last 20 years to the Canucks team of recent years really flatters the Flames.
It wasn't long ago (really just a matter of weeks) that people were calling San Jose washups.

Just got back from the game. Canucks are going no where fast. I thought they had a decent chance at beating San]ose but not now. Did they even generate any real scoring chances? I don't think Neime made any hard saves, he was just square to the shooter and controlled rebounds. Zero from the Sedins. They look so ordinary this year.

No one has changed that tune. The Sharks are still washed up, and the Canucks are approaching the same distinction.

It was nice of the Canucks not to set expectations too high with their regular season. I still say the Canucks win this series. It will be just enough to keep AV from getting canned.

Agreed. To add to that, even if they remain a "good" team for years to come, a few of the other teams around the league the last few years have stepped it up so much, that even the Canucks that went (dove) to the finals I think would have a pretty hard time handling the current Pens, Hawks or heck, even the Blues.
The Canucks are on a downhill slide with this core, they won't be more than average from here on out imo.
