Makes sense, Jones goes to his hometown team, a team that is in some trouble that needs some buzz.
At least we didn't move down and now should be able to pick one of the top 4 centres.

Right - winning is the new tanking.

Really? A wheel of fortune type spinning machine would work just fine. Split the board in the right percentages and add the right team logos. Not rocket science.
And even if it is computer generated why can't the fans see that?

No. The Flames did not tank. They sucked for most of the season, but then they fought hard. As evidenced by all that winning after the Iggy and Bouwmeester trades. Hell, the Flames iced an AHL team that refused to quit. Colorado on the other hand went from playing okish hockey (not playoff ok) to full on implosion. They went full tank mode. As in Sherman.

You don't insert an AHL lineup if you're not tanking, somehow they won a decent amount of those games. They couldn't have happy about that.

There are 14 balls, 4 of which are drawn, that determine a number that refers to a much larger list of outcomes that corresponds to the odds posted

What they should do (and TSN would love because it would be a longer show) is to put ping pong balls with team logos on them into the drum. The crappiest team (Florida) has the least amount of balls, Columbus the most. Then you draw the balls one by one starting with the 14th pick. If you draw a ball that was already selected, toss it aside and pick again until all the teams are picked. Would be way more interesting to watch and would make the whole lottery selection weighted.

Great minds think alike. We both thought Colorado was going to win, and have the exact same top 7 order. And there's also that great football team

perhaps but that would be boring tv.. the draw takes a millisecond.
I'm with you though, the NHL is amateur hour. I'm waiting for the World Cup draw in December with music, ex-Brazilian soccer heros and Brazillian supermodels.

???? It's not like Phoenix jumped up and won the draft. The Av's with the 2nd best chance to win won. I highly doubt if they are going to rig it, it would have been for the Av's.

We went 5-5 with a brutally gutted team in the final 10 games of the season.
Florida went 3-7-0
Aves went 4-4-2 (misleading, the only decent hockey the played all season)
Bolts 2-6-2
Preds 1-8-1 (playoff team a month before the end of the season)
Canes 3-5-2 (Skinner, Staals, Semin... are you frekin kidding me?)
Oilers 3-7-0
With the worst roster in the league the Calgary Heat had the best record in the final 10 games of the season. Tanking indeed.

It was posted earlier in the thread but it is a draw with 14 balls numbered 1-14 and teams are assigned combinations of 4 balls.

I think it has more to do with the fact they have 2 top 3 draft players in the last 3 years in Duchene and Landeskog.
It's BS that teams that these teams with multiple top draft selections and elite players just keep stockpiling.
Though it is hilarious that even though, they still suck a lot of donkey ass.
