From the very first time I heard him speak, I have been really impressed with Baertschi's attitude and have believed that he has the makeup to be a star and a leader.

I become more confident of that each time, and I have almost no doubt that he will one day be "the new Jarome Iginla here.” .

I think he gets moved at the deadline next season.
The cap hit is bad, but the fact he's payed $7 million in actual terms is even worse. Who was the Montreal GM that signed him to that? One amazing season on a line with Iggy was not worth that IMO...

Fair enough. German's sort of a second language of mine and I've never known it to translate into English with overuse of present tense, but I'm certainly no authority on the matter.

I'll take that bet:

cap space for a 23 man roster

Boston $6.6 M for 6 players need 2 goalies as Rask is RFA after making 3.5M this year

Minnesota $9M for 6 players.... Backstrom UFA coming off 6M contract

Montreal has 24 players signed and 2M cap space and Markov, Subban, Georges, Diaz and Emelin as their top 5 d-men,..... Whitney as a #6 d-man for depth?

There are going to be a lot of teams sitting out the UFA bidding process as they have trouble getting down to the cap.

Kind of curious if Whitney would be a fit in CGY. The added inspiration to take it to the Oilers on the regular could bring him back to his level of play that made him successful in Pitt.

No thanks, the guy chases himself out of every town he plays in.

He's banged up.

With the defensemen we have an want to develop He would sit on the bottom pairing which is not what he wants.
