The Oilers are just trying to fill their yearly quota of lottery draft picks.

Ya, ya. Stats don't tell much of the story here. Grant Fuhr has pretty crappy career stats but always seemed to make a save when the team needed it. Dubnyk has no such ability.

Correct, and it should never have gotten to this point. In fact, they shouldn't be allowed to pick in the top ten again until they play with some honor.
Stupid Oilers

^Big difference between the 80's and today's NHL in goalie stats too though.

It's insane that the Flames are dressing a bunch of AHL call-ups and still winning games or at least fighting until the final buzzer in the games they lose, but the Oilers are dressing basically their full NHL roster and getting embarrassed every game.

My views on the Flames aren't based on how the Oilers are playing.
I like the energy I am seeing from some of the kids - we have a few pieces to work with as the roster starts to gets rebuilt.
I watch the annual hype and the annual excuses with the Oilers and all I can do is shake my head. But pf course, the hype machine will be rolling again in the fall.

I get annoyed when our players dive, but if one of our players ever pulled that crap ... I'd hope they'd staple his ass to the bench.

Oilers are a terrible, terrible hockey team.
Filled with players who, unlike their President, do not know anything about winning.
Losing has a stench that never washes off

I'm guessing, and have for a while now, that behind the scenes, the Oilers are the most media friendly team, especially when it comes to national media. Likely always accessible from players to management, buttering up guys like Brophy, Spector, Dreger and the CBC crew, by giving them insdie news and rumors and texts behind the scenes, and rolling out the red carpet when they get a TSN national game for the commentators....moreso than most teams.
Mostly to get the positive PR and media spin in their favor, and use them as conduits for their rumors and for disseminating news, since anything coming out of Lowe's mouth really falls on deaf ears if he speaks it.
5 years ago or so when Lowe made sure that he told all the networks leading up to the draft that the Oilers were "open for business", and all the networks harped on that in the days before, and on draft day, and then it was met by the sound of crickets from teams around the league, I figured something was up.

The Oilers should be down right ashamed to be ~5 years into a rebuild and still finishing behind this shell of a Flames team. It's so frustrating to see teams with vastly superior prospects getting a chance to draft another impact player ahead of us. I'd love to hear what Adrian Dater or any of the other hype-riding media morons has to say about them now.

Anyone else surprised David Moss has remained healthy all season? Good for him btw. Initially i wasnt a fan at all, but his effort brought me around eventually.

Will the Oilers ever win another hockey game?
I'm curious... do the Oilers brass have the skills to make a proper draft selection if it isn't the first overall? Maybe they should pay (under the table) someone like the Red Wings management to tell them who to draft (outside of the first overall)
