Ah, just when the Flames become the joke of the league, they actually start playing pretty good without Iginla and Bo (and of course Comeau) - even if they weren't winning. They call up some kids who look like legit players and the future is somewhat brighter. Then, to make things funnier, the Coilers implode and go on a 5 game losing streak and look like the pretenders they are, getting dominated by those same AHL Flames missing their top 5 players.

And to make Monday even better, then recycle a convicted killer into their GM spot, someone with zero experience as a GM, who they ran out of town as an idiot of a coach 4 or 5 years ago and they keep the architect of it all firmly at the helm - KLOWN!!!!

The reporter should have asked klown how many people working in the league had led their team to three straight first overall pics, and 5 top 5 picks.... what a complete goof. What he knows about winning can be summed up by saying "luck into a team with Gretzky, Jurri, Messier, Coffey, Fuhr, etc on it and don't screw up too bad".

TSN has the whole thing on their website. The Fan also has just the audio up if the sight of their ugly faces is too much for you.

The basic gist was that Lowe and MacT have more Stanley Cups than you do, so shut up with your stupid questions about why fans should be excited that the people who got the team into this mess is now being asked to get them out of it.

Also, if you don't buy Oiler tickets, your opinion doesn't matter anyway.

From what i saw McTavish was praising how times for the Oilers are better than they were when he last coached. Meaning back then it was difficult to land veteran stars on the UFA market. Now with a top prospect lineup, they are a team that does compete with UFA's. McTav brought up that they haven't won over the UFA market, but unlike before where the players turned down the idea of playing for the Oil, now the franchise is in the running for these players. The new GM then was claiming he would sign some players that will help this team of young talent, to get them in the playoff and Stanley Cup. He compared how the NHL is so competitve that making the playoffs placing 8th, and winning the Stanley Cup can be done cause the Kings did it.

man, I'm 21 minutes in and it is truly awful.

As bad as things may have gotten around here...holy crap, what a damn disaster.

Lowe gets irate at the 22 minute mark. There's no way Lowe and MacTavish should be employed by a professional sports organization (...if we can call the Oilers that)

What makes all this even funnier, IMO, is the idea that seems to be being thrown around by Oilers management that they were a formidable team in the late '90's/early '00s. They weren't. They had one improbable run, largely due to one player whom they could only hold on to for one season. For as long as Lowe has been associated with the team, when they haven't finished higher than 7th or 8th in the Conference in the West, they haven't made it at all. The Oilers haven't finished higher than sixth in their conference since 1991.
