At least Tambo won't have to sell his place in Edmonton. 4-5 years from now, he'll be back with the club.

This is exactly why it is going to be hard for teams to get high picks and rebuild. NO one can compete with the gong show up there. They will forever ruin hockey prospects for the rest of eternity.

Now i think i'm going down to the well tonight
And i'm going to drink till i get my fill
And i hope when i get old i don't sit around thinking about it
But i probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
A little of the glory of, well time slips away
And leaves you with nothing mister but
Boring stories of
Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

The Oilers have officially given the term 'rebuild' a bad name. It used to be known as a normal occurance in professional sports when a good team passes their peak and trends down to the point where management changes out old pieces with new ones. Now when you mention 'rebuild' everyone thinks about the Oilers legendary futility.

Repeated for hilarity. Sig worthy, for somebody.

We have to really hope that Rene Fasel picks one of the other VP's other than Nicholson to replace him as head of the IIHF. The only way I see Lowe going anywhere other then the Oilers is to have all his snuggling up to him this past 10+ years since Gretzky picked up as part of the SLC 2002 team payoff, and replace Nicholson at Hockey Canada.

Lowe running Hockey Canada = another 50 year gold medal drought.

TSN Power Rankings still have the Oilers at 15th - I wonder when the media love in with the Oilers will end - how many more Oil Changes will be have to watch, how many more comments on how special their rebuilding is,

Sooner or later the bubble has to burst and they need to realize what a mess this org is

Am I the only person that thinks it's kind of crazy that an NHL organization has just fired their GM in response to the outcome of a single regular season game? Really this should have been announced the day after the end of the regular season as it serves absolutly no purpose two weeks prior outside of damage control. Kind of pathetic IMO.

No way this happened after the one game in a normal oraganization.
So it probably did.

Some tie in with Oil Change likley wrapping up shooting in a couple days so they need to relay the drama and angst before then. That and season ticket renewal letters are probably ready to go out.

Krueger will be the next one let go right after the season is done, with some big splashy press conference announcing Tom Renney back as coach between Game 1 and 2 of the SCF (and just before the renewals are due in).
