Yeah, that was interesting...I thought something was different so I had to look it up on the Wiki page. Sam definitely got the messages away so why they chose for him to fail in the show is interesting.
Dragonglass scene is definitely when they head back to the Wall. Can't recall if it's before or after stopping in at Craster's keep.

Before. Sam gets picked up by Small Paul and they get overtaken. Paul is killed and Sam kills the Other. Then Grenn and a few others make him tell Mormont when they are back at Craster's.

So the guy who told Theon he was sent by his sister and was going to help him is obviously Ramsay playing his games. Not a terrible introduction to the character after forgoing the fake-Reek plot. Now the TV watchers will get to see him in all his psychopath cruelty from the get-go.

Yea it is going to be interesting to see the publics reaction to Ramsay, especially how he just continues to do whatever he wants un checked for multiple books.
Maybe that scene where Caitlin is talking about those dark eyes of John Snow is a clue as to who his actual parents are..
I really liked the introudction of Jojen/Howland Reed. He is possibly the only person still alive that knows the secret of John Snow's heritage, so I have always found that character interesting.

Looks like the Thoros and Lem Lemoncloak are being combined? I like what they did with Anguy.

Thoros was Robert's drinking buddy. Pretty much his reason at court was to get drunk with the King, in that case I could easily picture him as a fun drunk. Now he does seem to get darker as the story goes on and the actor will need to be able to pull that off.
And we're definitely going to see Dondarrion and his flaming sword here soon since they already have The Hound.

I've said before that I *really* need to re-read these, I think I'm ready to commit to it finally. I left off on Eddard IV (Ch. 21) in AGoT. I've got a lot to read to try and catch the current TV season. Hopefully this go round I'll be a little more refreshed by the time AFfC and ADwD hits. I kind of slogged through them the first time, and it kind of lessened my enjoyment of them I think (especially for ADwD).
I also can't believe it's going to take over two years for the paperback of ADwD to finally be released this October. WTF.

Rhaegar fought valiantly. Rhaegar fought nobly. Rhaegar fought honorably. And Rhaegar died.
One of my favourite lines in all of the books.
Also opening up on his history. Have a feeling we'll get the Tourney at Harrenhal story from Jojen to Bran soon and maybe even the Tower of Joy story.
The sound cut off a minute early for me, but I was a bit worried they were going to cut out an eye instead of a hand there for a half-second.

I've plowed through the books last year, but found it helpful to read the chapter summaries on the ASOFAI wiki before each season. Really helps refresh everything without needing a few months to read how f'ing hot the red waste was.

I was a bit surprised that they didn't show that Dany knows everything the slaver was saying, although her knowing Valar Morghulis may have been a hint about that.
And yeah I too almost thought there was going to be a change and they were going to take an eye as opposed to a the hand. I'm glad they didn't - Jamie dealing with his identity crisis is a major focus and I think can be done really well on screen.
So next week Dany gets the Unsullied and the Crows revolt at Crastor's? Going to be a busy episode.
BTW, I think they guy they got for Blackfish pretty much nailed the character the way I remembered him.

Yea the Blackfish was done perfectly, love that character. I didn't remember any of this Theon/Ramsay stuff at all... have to go back and read the Wiki to refresh.
Great episode, looks like the Hound duel is up next.

Last night was a tough episode to watch with my wife who hasn't read the books. So many questions that I wanted to answer.
"Dany can't sell a dragon. She should just use her new army to take her dragon back."
"Why do the rangers put up with Crastor? They could just kill him and take his food and free his wives."

It is agonizing!! My wife will not stop guessing future plotlines and I'm doing everything I can not to tell her.

Have Komskies and Nehkara read the books? I don't think they've posted in this thread but they say Dani knew what the slaver was saying with such confidence that it makes me think they have.
If they just guessed very well then good on them in the TV thread.
If they've read the books then they should STFU.
