Both are over the top.

The difference? It's hockey! These are fans! You're supposed to be a fan, which would require a certain amount of hope and positive assumptions.

I cringe when I read over the top optimist posts but at least I know where that emotion comes from.

The guy that seems to want to make sure nobody is ever happy? I worry about you guys.

He certainly could be.

I just think we should wait until he plays meaningful games at the NHL level before saying nah, nah, nah to people that were critical of the deal.

Hanowski playing 2-3 games at the end of a nothing year doesn't show that these guys are NHL guys or that is was a good trade.

People are free to whine and cry about that thinking all they want but it isn't pessimism it is poiniting out that we should wait and see what happens when things actually matter.

Based on responses on this board and this thread I think the so-called pessimism gets way over blown by many.

I believe the reason for him playing a few games is to give him a taste of the big league which would help his offseason preperation in that he better knows
what is coming and what level of play he needs to atain to compete.

You are correct in saying 2-3 games does not prove anything at this point.
This is a motivational manuever IMO

To add to that, I think the optimists enjoy the ride more. They may crash and burn when they get there, but they enjoy the process. The pessimists don't seem to enjoy the ride and don't seem to get much fun out of the process. They are just waiting to say 'see I told you so'.

Moon actually has some good insight and I think knows the game but his delivery is brutal. I think he enjoys that his style of posting stirs the pot a bit. People need to learn to take his posts for what they are...his opinion. I did, and now I like his posts. I don't however like the derailment that happens when people get all bent out of shape from them.

I think you're proving my point.

Your glass is half full and possibly cracked half the time, so from your perspective on the spectrum you're going to see the pessimism as realism and the optimist running a muck.

Agreed that this move is probably just a motivational/development tool. Also gives the fans a small chance to see what he's about.

I hope Benowski has a good showing when and if he gets a chance to be in the lineup.

Feaster didn't sign someone and bring them in to spite you or anyone else. He's an older prospect with some grit and leadership. I don't see the problem at all here. 2-3 games could just be a nice confidence booster for a guy going into his first full pro season next year.

I don't think he did and can't see where I said that.

I have no problem with them playing Hanowski at the end of the year and am interested to see how he does and what he brings.

My comment was in response dino7 talking about people snickering about these guys never being NHL guys. I don't think that does much to disprove that theory.

I hope he does well and turns out to be a great NHLer for us but I guess that is just my pessimist view of things.

I like it, especially if playing this season burns one of the years. He will get a taste to see the level, then get a season to earn another contract. I love having players in contract years. If he can't cut it too bad, but this is a rebuild and we are going to see them throw a ton of stuff at the wall to see what sticks. Good luck to him!

Maybe Hanowski will be the Yelle of the Drury trade. That would be very good for us.

I'm not holding my breath, but people should remember that Hanowski projects to be a bottom 6 player, so if he achieves that, then we are getting what we traded for. The Iginla trade will always come down to that 1st rounder.

Classic Moon. This is your first post to the thread and it's a complete attention-grabbing troll of a post, followed of course by 'I didn't say that, show me where I said that' and other forms of backpedaling and instigating.

This is a forum sir, not a bathroom stall. Give me a break

Solid post.

How about instead of whining about me saying I didn't say something you go ahead and point what I said that was so bad?

Just put him on ignore. The trolling is mostly hidden until someone quotes him.

There's enough negativity for the simple sake of negativity and trolling that you don't miss out when you ignore them. The forum is much more readable that way

How about we get back to the topic here.

Honest question, if it wasn't for Tangs getting injured, or if these games meant anything; does anyone think we'd have so much youth in the lineup?

I'm pretty much 100% with moon on this one (which happens from time to time).

In fact, I'll go a step further, and say that I think that if this guy hadn't been traded for Iginla, there's no way he'd be getting NHL time this season.

I'm sure it'll be good for him, and I wish him well. I just think that this is probably just so management can say "Look we actually got an NHL player out of our deadline deals"
