The more the I use WiFi, the longer my battery lasts.

Even without WiFi, I still get 24 hours easily before I'm at 15%.

They are all fast, and most of them do LTE. What more do you want? Everything else is personal preference.
I don't understand people getting the S3, then complaining about size. Assuming you're a man with man-sized hands, what's the problem? My 10-year-old niece has an iPhone 4S. That phone is bigger relative to her hand size than my S3 is relative to my hand size.

I've finally found my favorite setup.

I'm running Liquidsmooth ROM. It is by far the fastest one I have used with some decent features. Also am using Dashclock with a few extensions. I also bought dock4droid for premium app switching.

I am not really a poweruser, but I am quite happy with this setup

Just ordered the SIII, it dropped to $0 so pretty much a no brainer. I'm torn though, I love my Nexus and I am not sure I want to change over to the SIII just yet. Will have to start reading up on custom ROMs and kernels for S3 as I really like the stock Google feel or find something similar to what I run now.

So my 2 month old GS3 screen is flickering in some situations. Called Rogers and they will send a new device for a $35 admin fee.

I would like to do a backup on my computer here of the old device and just pop everything back onto the new device when it arrives. Anyone know the best options for that?

If you have your device associated with your Google account, it will auto-install any apps you have downloaded or own anytime you register it on a new device (eg new phones, tablets, etc). If you want to copy over files, just attach it to a PC and copy over everything you need, and re-copy it onto the new phone.

You can also use a deep file manager like Astro if you require.

Check out Carbon backup from Koush I believe (ROMmanager). It is a back up program that uses your PC to store and complete backup of your phone and does not require root. Apps and data only.

You could also play with the Toolkit by mskip on XDA. It will backup your entire phone (ROM/kerne/apps and data) and you can restore it at any time. In theory you could restore your back up to a different phone of the same model although I have never done it, it should be plausible.

I created a backup of my completely stock setup as well as my custom one and have flashed back and forth a couple times with no issues (on a nexus).

Yea, I know contacts, apps, etc will be copied over. I just kind of want an exact copy of the setup I have now on the new phone. Widgets where they are, settings as is, all that stuff.

That one might be a bit hit and miss, but Carbon should do all your data.

The only way I have found, admittedly with little time spent searching for alternatives, is to backup my launcher settings. I use Nova, and backup is a simple process within the settings.

For people that have rooted and flashed custom recoveries and ROMs are you concerned about the flash counter and have you done anything to counter act that?

Only if you have to send it in for warranty repair. There is an app call Triangle away that is supposed to reset your counter. Until you actually have to send it in for repair or replacement, there is no point in worrying about the flash counter.

Thanks. Haven't read anything about it yet. So it doesn't shut your phone off at a certain point or anything? Just counts flashes?

Yep, it just registers if you have modified the device thus voiding the warranty.

It won't disintegrate into a cloud of dust if you hit a certain number on the counter.

I should mention that devs have made certain ROMS and methods for flashing that don't trip the counter. But for me it was tedious enough wading through all the crap on sites like XDA that I just decided that I wouldn't worry about the counter until I needed to.

Should get my S3 Early next week, been reading about unlocking, rooting etc and seems pretty straight forward.

Which method did you use to root and install a recovery? CASUAL or the toolkit? I used the Nexus toolkit with great success and no issues.

The toolkit is an absolute breeze with the S3.

Basically a click button approach. I was on SlimBean in like a half hour.

I am interested in rooting my S3, but I've never done it before. Where do you get "The Toolkit" and are there any good tutorials on how to use it?

Sent you a PM with links on where to go. Gave you the best place to start but you can explore the rest of the forum from there as well.

I suggest you read and read some more because you can brick your phone although it is unlikely. You should always have a backup plan just in case.

Build 4 of Slim on my Nexus is pretty awesome and just flies even under clocked. Can't wait to see it run on a S3.
