Don't worry about the Canucks cap issues, we have a capologist whose a genius at making everyone fit under the cap.
If we cant keep everyone, we'll simply buyout Booth and Ballard plus Luongo gone next summer = 15m of cap space freed up.
Also Alberts 1.2m will be gone, Derek Roy 5m that give us 21m.
The Canucks have no cap issues.

I disagree. They are a middle-of-the-pack offensive team, but still a top-five defensive team, and they have progressively been slipping in these critical statistical categories. In a year in which there are 20 + 1.00 point/game scoring forwards, the Canucks don't have a single one on their roster.

|
The Sedins are clearly not the same players they were three or four years ago. They have definitely taken steps back in the past two seasons, and even if Kesler does manage to stay healthy and rediscover his strong two-way game, this is quickly becoming a team with an average top line. They will likely win home-ice advantage again this year, but I would not be at all surprised to see them become a bubble team as early as next season. The Canucks realistically have this year and next to make another charge, but even these must now be considered long shots.

I wasn't trying to prove anything. I thought it was a pretty benign, light-hearted jab. My apologies for offending 2 of you so far.
Plus I wanted to give some basis for people "hating" Canucks fans. I wouldn't want anyone wasting their lives or energy hating for no reason. There are far better things to be doing. Just a bit of free advice.

Things like posting on an opposing fanbase's forum.

I would say this is their last kick at it. If they can't surprise everyone this year, they're toast. After this, the Sedins, as you mention, are going to regress, their D will be in their prime, but the top 6 forwards will be starting to reach the age where they're looking at the back 9.
And, given how even the Flames keep up with them for 40-50 minutes a night...
It may be possible that they could adopt a more defensive system and work around their strengths for a couple years past that, but that would require a really tough, defensive system...and need AV gone as coach of the Canucks.

I know I shouldn't even joke about this, but...: You won't have to if Feaster trades for him

I think the Canucks' window as Cup contenders is closing, but I think they will remain competitive for a couple more years. They are in trouble as far as having to replace the Sedins as top line players down the line, but I give Mike Gillis credit for keeping the team competitive through his free agent signings. The defense would have been a disaster if Gillis didn't trade for Ehrhoff, and sign Hamhuis, Garrison, and Tanev. Given that Gillis has failed big time in drafting and developing his own defensemen, it's good that he's managed to sign some good ones.
I find the Canucks situation to be a little bit hard to assess due to their GM. On the one hand I can see them having an eye towards the future trading Hodgson for Kassian (instead of an older guy) and acquiring David Booth and they haven't really traded draft picks for rentals. On the other hand, they were in on the Shane Doan and Ryan Clowe sweepstakes. Gillis is almost as inconsistent as Feaster.

All that talent and no Cups to show for it. Your time has passed and your best chance was against the Bruins and they blew it! Surely you remember Luongo saying "Anything in the blue paint is an easy save for me"

Well.. no reason? It's very easy to hate the Canucks when the ######baggery of their on ice product is rivaled by the actions and ######baggedness of their fans.

Trust me, they do. I think the team should just buy him out at the end of the year.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but one of the PP units had Baertschi, Backlund, Horak, Brodie and Gio. That looks like our future there.

The above sounds a lot like Oiler fans talking about the flames in 2007. Five seasons later and we're at the bottom. The Canucks will be fine for awhile.

Cervenka not as young but he's basically part of the young guns, really like where his game going, lets re-sign him.
We know Gio and Glencross aren't going no where. Just 12 more spots to fill and we're set.
Didn't notice Jones too much, how was he?
|
Please people, can we just not use the young guns term again, ever. Do not associate this team with that team, no matter how bad they are.
