1st and 2nd line ice should go to Backlund and our draft pick (assuming we get Barkov or MacKinnon) and I'd rather see Reinhart or Horak to round out the top 3. If we end up with a non-centre like Jones, Drouin or slip out of the top 4 and get somebody worse who will need another year in junior then I'm OK to bring him back.
Keep in mind his salary is only $925,000 this year - the rest is bonuses. He probably won't be getting the bonuses.

When you thought getting to 30th overall is idiotproof, the Avs have successfully built a better idiot.

Only one team looking to next year and beyond in this game. Avs playing at half pace at best. I know the high on their horses type don't like it but winning games now is detrimental to the future.

I don't care if my team sucks every year, doesn't matter, every game you should be hoping for a win and just live with any results win or loss.

I do t think saying he has been a decent number 4 for us is underrating him.

And he hasn't got better every game as he has struggled since Bouw left and more has been asked if him. Was pretty weak when moved up with Bouw as well.

Agreed with Moon, Brodie does not look great. He looks like how he's projected a career #4 defenceman.

Haha ya that's more like it.

The way I see it, we are pretty much a lock for top 3 pick. I just can't bring myself to cheer for a loss- I think they can handle it without my help

We're getting a top 3 pick. We aren't beating 90% of the rest of our schedule, everyone needs to beat us to get into the playoffs. Couple urgency with vastly more talented rosters, and we will not be winning more than 2 games the rest f the way, and that includes a possible W tonight.

But it will be alright. I promise.

Every nice play is only a result of a bad play on the other team. Jesus, man. Every breakaway, one time and deke. Every freaking time. Most people who cheer for the flames like to focus on the good things they do. Not moon.

Not sure what that post had to do with what I posted but this is a pretty awfully played game.

Watch a replay if the Kings-Blackhawks game from a week ago or the Kings-Ducks game last night and you will see good back and forth hockey from teams that actually know how to play the game.

If I were GM, I would be irate at the Flames players. What Kipper needs to do is surrender 3 soft goals, and have the rest of the team mail it in. The Flames need that #1 Overall pick!

He's 22. Considering where's he's at now relative to his draft position, I don't know why you'd think he's finished developing.

Some bad moments that every young player has aside, who's more composed with the puck on our defence than Brodie? Include Bouw in this conversation as well.

He's got the skillset. And from what I've seen on the ice, more desire to be better than almost every other player on the roster. And that's the sort of stuff I need from the captain.

Again though, there is nobody on our roster proving they deserve it. I wouldn't choose Brodie as captain because I like the way he has progressed and I would rather not heap a bunch of pressure on him when we know we will suck anyway. That being said, its not entirely unreasonable that he is suggested as captain since he has been one of the most consistent performers we have had this season.

Yep I just reviewed the actual qualifications for his 2.7 million in bonuses and you and Vox are right, he won't achieve any. For some reason I thought they were pretty modest but 20 goals, 35 assists and top 6 forward in ice time among others, even pro-rated not going to happen.

I think he has done great for his draft position and never said he is done developing either. I just said he has been fine as a number 4 and over his head when asked to do more.

I would say Bouw and Gio much more composed with the puck which should be expected.

For Cervenka to be re-signed the flames are going to have to move a couple of players. Not sure the flames will be able to move the players they want to. Have to think the flames will sign an RFA or sign a ufa this off season. Does not leave a lot of room for a soft player like Cervenka.
