Think he can make the jump, at 20?

Don't think they'll make the playoffs but it's a good step.

The Flames need to start moving drafted players into the line up, or guys they've developed. Brodie and Backlund... but you want atleast 6 guys next year.. then more and make is consistent like the Sharks, Kings etc.
Amen, if you look at other NHL clubs nowadays they are mostly consist of players that they have drafted and developed. Calgary for sure needs to start doing that, the owners are probably still under the impression of Sutter where they'd rather trade prospects and draft picks for under achievers.

To be fair to jackman, it must be hard for him to motivate himself to be used as a punching bag while the team mails it in waiting for the season to end.

He might turn out to be a good one for the Flames.

Absolutely. He was every bit as good as Jones at the WJC back in December. 6'1, 203lbs, coming off of a tremendous regular season (7g, 30a, +62), and now performing in the playoffs... just what Calgary needs.

Kind of hoping they use good judgement when they decide if the kid they draft high starts in the NHL or the AHL. I don't want a superstar right now. I want one for the next ten years. Don't need our shiny new toy to get broken in his first year.

aren't you glad Tom K is gone? he got knocked the f out against Matt Martin a few days ago, and it was the fastest fight ever.

This rebuilding thing sure ain't pretty.

Can't wait til we get to see next season's roster take to the ice. Should be some hope in the roster by then.

It ain't pretty because we have three young players to be excited about currently... Horak, Backlund and Brodie... hopefully you see that number more then double on opening night next season.

It probably won't be pretty on a lot of nights either but atleast you'll see that spark and excitement young players bring.

Speaking from experience, yup ... expect some long nights.

As far as fourth liners go I think Kostopulous is above average. Good for some physical play and 20ish points.

but yeah he should probably keep his gloves on. I think he has 2 recorded fight wins in his career.

It'll be nice to see what kids we can in this draft and then see if some of our younger guys next year can make a jump. Next season will be a tough one to endure tho.

I always liked the Flames and Oilers, but now I cheer for the Oilers. Edmonton is simply the more exciting team, and will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. Calgary will eventually rebound, but that will take a few years. Possibly by the 2016-17 season. Once Kipper is gone, the highlight of the Flames next few seasons will be the NHL Entry Draft.

Of course they get chippy when McGrattan is on the bench.

I think he's physically mature enough. I'd be tempted to give him a month or so of AHL before making the jump.

Yeah, I think he can make it was just questioning his ability to jump in right away. Love the way he has just consistently surprised.
