Crazy deal for Buffalo. I guess Minny REALLY liked Pominville

Yep. He pretty much wins every trade he makes. The guy's problem is he doesn't make timely trades to address the team's problems or improve the hockey club.

I'm guessing Minnesota wasn't on Iginla's list?

Jesus. Buffalo is easily the winner of this deadline. I can't believe they got that much back for a player with one year left on his contract.
Probably a top 20 pick based on where the Wild will likely end up in the standings.

How does Feaster still have a job when you see the return BUF got?

For Regehr, or for Pominville?

For the love of god. The two trades have nothing in common.
Iggy had a NMC
More importantly Jason Pominville is a superior player to him - he's a guy that plays a great two-way game, puts up high point totals, is a leader and has many years ahead of him.
Yeah no kidding he fetched more in a deal.

Minnesota GM has clearly been on a bender for the last 10 months.

Great trade for both teams. Minnesota payed a high price, but I think Pominville improves their chances of playoff success quite a bit. They could have used a D also.
Goes to show the kind of return you can get on a player with no NTC on a reasonable contract.
I wonder what Glencross could have returned in a trade? Not as good as Pominville and he has a NTC, but I would have been thrilled with a 1st and Larsson or a 2nd.

Hm. Didn't think JP would get this much. Probably twice what Iginla got.

That is a crazy return, huge overpayment by Minnesota.
Is Pominville that much better than Derek Roy?
Stats are virtually identical over the last couple years. Roy a year younger but Pominville a little bigger. Both are alright two way players.

Buffalo did exceptionally well, but they've done so for the last several trades...clearly hasn't translated on the ice though.

That's even a better return than some of the recent mega deals (Gaborik, Nash, Carter, etc). Unreal; but maybe no surprise from the team that backed up dump trucks for Suter and Parise in the summer.

I can understand that with Minny's prospect pool, they can afford to give up some younger guys... But I guess Regier is just a good GM.

Getting a 1st for Gaustad was a wicked good move.
