No one on Twitter has said the Flames are done yet, maybe they still have another deal they are waiting to come through.

I think the draft has a lot to do with the evaluation of this trade deadline.
The key pieces in each of these deals were.........draft picks!!!

I'm very upset and disappointed. We only have 3 first rounders! Fire Feaster!

as for today itself, am ok about it
if there had been a huge offer for one of the wingers (ie 1st round equivalent) then fine, otherwise no rush
Comeau- no problem. suspect he could be back
Sarich- higher value next deadline likely and not terrible to have him here next year- D and new goalies will need physical presence
would have been happy with Babchuk for conditional 7th

I think Feaster did well considering what he was working with. I'm curious to see if he can unload some other contracts before or on draft day.

Is it confirmed we're done then? No chance of any last minute tricklers?
Definitely thought we'd see a few more faces gone. But I'm fine with the overall picture. Landed some quality draft picks so we won't get to see the biggest value in all this until draft day.

I understand that but I was asking how he did this deadline in terms of the trades he made for picks etc.. obviously we won't know what the draft picks will turn out to be for at least a few years..

Besides the two first rounders that came to the Flames how many other first round picks changed hands?

Agree entirely -- pretty good, and done before the expected madness of the final hours. No complaints at all from me.

I think the one thing the OP missed which is key to all of this is that we were able to shave off over $14 million in payroll.
Add that to the fact that we came out with 2 first round draft picks and were able to make something out of nothing in Comeau for a 5th I think we did great.
I think the only way this trade deadline could have gone better is if we were able to get something for Kipper (knowing he is going to retire this year) and shed ourselves of Tanguay.
Can't really understand all the hate for Feaster on the board these days as I think he is doing a pretty decent job.

Would have liked to see at least another body like Babchuk moved but overall he did alright. Making big trades like Bouwmeester and Iginla were not easy I would imagine so the returns made in both situations, though unappealing, are acceptable.

He did well with the moves he made but I would've liked to see 1 more significant move. Sarich, Butler, Babchuk, and Jackman are next to impossible to move but I think it would've been good to move on from Glencross.

Not saying ALL should be gone, but was hoping the roster was far more gutted than it is today....

Because no one wanted them. You can`t just get rid of players.....someone actually has to take them. Trading Comeau was as good as it got.

I like what Feaster did - got rid of a lot of salary, picked up two first round picks and some depth.

- We now have 3 first round picks
-Acquired more prospects
-Change of culture with Iggy traded
-Change of direction with the rebuild underway
-Got rid of Comeau
-More importantly, got rid of Jaybo while acquiring a 1st round pick! Last season, you couldn't have given him away for free
I'm pretty happy with how things went. The prospects we got back might not be household names, but this may be the best draft year in over a decade and we have 3 first rounders. That's huge.

The market was soft.
Two of the rumored big names moved and one of them was an absolute shocker.
Detroit, Montreal, Chicago, etc all did nothing today and that is telling.

Keeping Sarich is fine. He can help protect some of the young guys left on the team, and murder people from time to time.
Think they could have dished off 1 or 2 more players for low picks though

I'll give Feaster a B-
Traded Iggy and Jbo for swell returns and got a 5th for a waiver pick up.
Now it would have been nice to load off Sarich, Butler or possibly Stempniak but you can't have everything... *cough*cough* Giroux! *cough*

My point is that I think 1sts are highly valued at this draft.
