So how did the Flames do this trade deadline?
Out -
Iginla
Bouwmeester
Comeau
In -
Cundari, Berra, Agostino, Hanowski
2013 1st round pick (Pittsburgh), 2013 1st round pick - conditional (Blues), 2013 5th round pick (Columbus)
So how did our man Feaster do? Personally as much as I have been dogging him he was the only GM to get 2 first round picks and he turned a waiver pickup in Comeau for a 5th which is pretty awesome. I understand he was forced with the Iginla trade and as much as I don't like the Bouwmeester trade I'm glad for the cap relief. Hopefully we target some players in the summer now and have an awesome draft!

Considering the NMC on the two biggest pieces and looking at various returns around the league involving other players, I'd say Feaster did well. He would've also been able to move Kiprusoff out for a 3 month rental for something as well, but in this case, he wasn't able to get around the NMC.
No complaints from me.

only team to get a guaranteed 1st round pick, and he got two
hands were tied, and to me I can't see how anyone is upset with the Jaybo deal he was gone after next year anyway and is nowhere near value for the money
he has done fine

fair. Iginla trade was crap, but appeased him. Bouwmeester trade was decent. Comeau trade was gold.

I think he did just fine. There are some who are, frankly, desperate to find fault, but he's taking on the very difficult task of rebuilding a team that has been very bad now for almost three years. He got some decent returns for what are, frankly, depreciating or marginal assets to most teams for a variety of reasons--and now the rebuild starts with three 1st round picks in a deep draft (or, at worst, four first-rounders in the next two drafts).

meh...
why the heck are all of sarich, babchuk, glencross, tanguay, cammalleri, jackman, stajan, butler still on the roster.
Not saying ALL should be gone, but was hoping the roster was far more gutted than it is today....

Did any other team pick up a first rounder this year? Dallas if Boston wins a couple rounds. Unless I am missing something they were the only ones. Goes to show you how valuable those are, especially this year. I think that makes us winners.

Blake Comeau is an addition by subtraction for the Calgary Flames. Losing Iggy will hurt for a long time. I'm pretty happy with the Jbo return

I do think it's funny that Feaster signed Babchuk and Sarich to two year deals, thinking that there was actually a market for these guys.
He couldn't even get a conditional 7th rounder for either guy.
He could have signed both guys for league minimum on one year deals without any NTC or NMC.

Seeing as how hard it was to get a 1st round draft pick out of any team, Feaster did pretty well IMO. I wish the prospects were of better quality...you know, at least one guy that had top end potential, but overall I'm satisfied.
More satisfied that changes are being made to the franchise than anything else.

I was hoping for 1-2 more bodies (Babchuk, Sarich, Butler, Stempniak, Stajan) being moved out and possibly adding a 2nd or 3rd rounder that we could have used to package with one of our 1sts to move up in the draft.
But on the bright side, at least we moved assets out this year. It should be interesting to see how much wheeling Feaster does at the draft. I just hope it doesn't include trading our own pick down in the 1st round.

Added picks, including two first rounders and a few mid to lower level prospects and managed to keep his own sure to be top 5 first round pick. If this was January and you told me this would be the result I would have been pleased, outside of the Kipper situation. With that said the Kipper situation is completely out of Feaster's control.

Yep, I think he did well.
Nothing else needed to be done now. Seems no one was willing to overpay for guys like Glencross, Tanguay, etc, and we might get as good or better returns in the off season if the plan is to move them.

Transactional Dysfuntion.
Maybe the amount of "buyers" was overstated in this lockout shortened season, but really think we should've seen more bodies exited on this D-day.
I do believe better to stand pat then to make a bad deal.
I know the Iginla & JBo deals had to happen, but still left wondering if maximal value was obtained for those key assets.
We'll now have to wait for the offseason...

I agree but perhaps the market just was not there this time around? I also understand that we need to ice an NHL team next year so we do need some players to help carry the load. Would have loved to see 2 or 3 of those players moved though

I would say 'not bad' actually. I think the market really wasn't there based on a lot of trades. Maybe if Feaster ate some cap, the returns might have been better... or he thinks that perhaps the cap space next season will be more valuable in future trades and advantages.
I give him a solid "B" right now.
Was surprised he managed to unload Comeau. Was hoping for Babchuk.
Sarich, Tanguay, and Cammalleri can all be traded in the off-season, at the draft, etc., if Feaster finds a good deal or not. I don't think grading him on his ability to off-load everyone would be fair. Better to keep those guys around and wait for better offers as they come up, rather than panic and trade them for anything. Pretty sure they would all be gone if they received decent offers.
