Funnily enough, that was one trade where you would've expected to get bent over the table.

For those comparing this against the Regehr trade, would you rather have a 15-20th pick or two 50-60th picks? They aren't similar in value.

From reading all the bitching on here you might think that Feaster had multiple great offers but he decided to take the worst one. Jbo has the 6th highest cap hit going into a year where the cap is going down significantly. He is only 1M behind Weber and Suter who cashed in big time this year as UFA's. Feaster had a very limited trade market available to him. That's what happens when you overpay players AND give them a NTC contract, you lose negotiating power.

Man, Iginla played for 16 years in calgary and had a no movement clause. He was also the franchise player and has done 10 times more for this franchise than J Bo who hasn't even made the playoffs.

Iginla went to Pitt, who was on his list.

J bos deal didn't get half the press Iginla did. They blew the Iginla sweepstakes way out of proportion.

Iginla did calgary a favour, that a fact.

As I have pontificated many times, the structure with Flames management is more broken then just Feaster, who's IMO a pawn and hired to be as such IMO, but a necessary pawn to at least do the deals we're seeing now.

Once these deals are done...we'll see. The PC on Wed will be interesting...and at some point with such an organizational clearing of the house, KK or een the owners need to address the fan base.
O'Reilly fiasco cleary falls on his shoulders, but a number of moves look like they came from above. Although most everybody was happy about Camelleri coming back, but that was exactly the kind of deal that Sutter would've made. He really should be a trade candidate now, too.

Even with Iginla, there were probably the "he puts fannies in the seats, sells jerseys and is the Face of the Franchise" lecture to prevent any "premature" thoughts of moving him sooner than has happened. Year in, year out, they wanted to keep giving the illusion that the team was competing for a playoff spot. That party line came from higher up.

What I hope happens on deadline day is draft MacKinnon/Drouin/Barkov, trade the STL pick and a 2nd to move up, or trade both the STL and PITS pick to move up even further. Leaving the draft with MacKinnon/Barkov and Monahan/Pulock/Shinkaruk/Ristolanien would be awesome.

Agreed, but if you do have a shot at drafting two of the top 3, you take it.

We can't judge these trades right. Let the draft play out, let's get these prospects signed. See what we have.

No faith in Feaster trades anymore. He must think he's smarter that 29 other GMs, thinking he's finding diamonds in the rough. 1st rd picks don't guarantee NHL stars. Forget the rebuild, he's turning Flames into an AHL team.

Gee, another deal where Feaster was forced into a deal and was crapped on big time with the return. Didn't turn out so bad did it? He inherited a mess, but that doesn't seem to matter to the majority of posters on the site. You don't like him, I get it, but context plays a big factor into virtually every deal he has had to make.

No, perspective is not welcome here. Fly off the handle and react emotionally. How dare you try to reason on this site!

Calgary and Miami are 2 very different markets. Miami need big names and headlines. Fans in Calgary demand a true contender.

And in this corner...weighing in with 10% of the first round draft picks in a widely touted deep draft....your calgary flames.

How do we trade a defensemen that plays 30 min a game for no NHL players in return?

We might as well play 6 forwards every game from now on. Will have the same result and then we can draft No.1 and be successful like the Oilers.

That's fair. I guess in my mind and my past trade proposals i had the flames eating $2 million of salary so they could get a better prospect. I have no idea why they didn't? They should not be thinking about spending money on the ufa market this summer considering they are in rebuild.

KK said that they were going to do the rebuild as fast as possible. The fastest way to do it is with quality prospects. Ownership is not cheap, so i still can't fathom why they did not eat salary for a better prospect.

You seriously think that we can move our STL and PIT pick for a top 3 pick? Anything is possible I'm sure but look at COL and FLA as the likely owners of the other top 3 picks and ask yourself how realistic that is.

We now have 3 first round picks and 4 prospects, and dumped almost 14 million in cap space and everyone is still complaining. Brutal.

We got what we could for Iggy. He was an iconic player, a player who we will probably never be able to replace.

J bo was over paid so I'm happy he is gone. No more crap contracts

maybe we can sweeten the pot add another player with Kipper to Toronto and end up with another 1st rounder.
