Flames scouts were split on which goalie was the best outside the NHL - Ramo or Berra.
If you believe him.

We ARE dealing with reality here, folks --- dropping salary, all of it in JayBo's case is HUGE for this team. That provides them with ample opportunity to hit the FA market on July 1.
That, in and of itself, is a big change.

have you seen the crop of ufa agents this year?
I'm going to guess you have not.
Management sacrificed better prospects in return for saved $$$, plain and simple

By comparison, the 'hawks were also in cap hell, right? That would make the Panthers able to dictate the trade. That's probably also a consideration.

Some posters think it's just Feaster who has locked himself in a room and making all the decisions. It's a management decision from pro scouts to Conroy to Weisbrod giving their input.
Anyways, excited about Flames possibly having 3 first round picks this year or 2 first rounders next year.

Excuse me if I don't have a lot of faith in our super scouts in terms of the prospects that we picked up in this and Iggy's trade.

Fair Market Value is defined as the price agreed to by unrelated parties.

NTC/NMC "you're not dealing with 29 other teams - you're limited with who you can deal - Bouw's list was a bit broader, but teams on his list could not make his salary work next season"

We just keep getting the best goalies not in the NHL. Amazing that other teams are so willing to just toss away these goalies.

Great contribution. And you've made this assessment how?
Again just admit you know nothing about the player if that's the case.
Nothing wrong with that.

Feaster: list of teams a bit broader (than Iginla). Financial deal tough for teams to absorb.

"Mark Cundari could quite possibly be the best defensemen in the Blues' minor league system" - Hockeysfuture.com
I get that the guy isn't a household name but come on... We just got our third 1st round pick and a defense prospect with some potential for a guy most people wanted to buy out and cut loose for nothing at the start of the season.

"We had multiple offers for him [Boumeester]."
"There was plenty of interest in the player, but it's not just the player, it's the contract too."
States that he's not dealing with 29 teams. It's a limited market because it's a short list of teams because of NT/NM and the size of the contract.

wow, we are building the best roster filled of players that were "the best outside of the NHL".
Maybe feaster and the flames need to put more emphasis on the word OUTSIDE rather than BEST in that statement.

I just don't understand this conditional 1st round pick business. Now the fate of the Flames is out of their hands here. IMO that's dumb.
Again the two prospects aren't even regarded as top 10 in the Blues system so I hope the Flames amateur scouting knows something everyone else doesn't.

Listening to Feaster now on tv. He keeps bringing up the money aspect. Have to presume that ownership did not want to eat salary.
