Anything less than a top prospect + bottom pairing NHL d-man for Bouw will be a bad trade IMO. A first-round pick coming back is a strong possibility, but it most likely won't come packaged with a top prospect which is something we desperately need now.

i am hoping the flyers stay in the playoff race because i would love to take one of their young stars since history shows that they aren't afraid of making deals at this time of year....simmonds, read, coutourier, b schenn....drooling!

The Flyers aren't that far off, so I could see them making a panic move out of desperation. I would LOVE to see JayBow go to the Flyers....

Is Feaster that paranoid? Or easily impressionable that he'll do whatever another GM asks?
Sutter infamously semi-traded Jokinen in principal, but wanted him to play the next day so the Flames weren't short, and Jokinen played that game.
Bourque didn't sit out that game when he got traded, but got pulled obviously mid game.
Iginla's was the fact that it seemed to be happening that evening, but then, I think because of the Pittsburgh, not Boston thing. Not sure why it was announced at 11:45 at night, when it could've been done the next morning, not that it matters.
Long story short, I don't see any reason to sit a guy like Bouwmeester, or at least leave it up to the player, if he's not getting traded that night no matter what.
Likely all moot...one more game, tomorrow, that the Flames have before the deadline.
|
Bourque wasn't playing in that game. I think he was suspended. The Canadiens pulled Cammalleri from their game though.

They don't even need to move him at the deadline. If the Flames don't see the offer they want by April 3 they can simply wait until draft weekend and get just as good or better offers.

Ya, I remember that when Bourque was traded, it happened mid game so Cammy had to leave because I think it counted as a game Bourque was suspended for the hit to the head a few games before

The Flames have to get some value back for their assets - if not, we'll be the Oilers, waiting for draft picks to lift us out of oblivion

Problem is, Flames fans are looking at other teams top 1 or 2 prospects. Teams almost never move those, for any player. When you set that - along with a 1st rounder - as the measure of success, prepare to be disappointed. Especially considering Bouwmeester's hard-to-swallow cap hit.
And there's no guaranteed Bouwmeester's value increase over the next 12 months, and a real risk that it decreases if his play regresses to what it was the last three seasons. I'm all for trading Bouwmeester, under the principle of sell high, but my feeling is the high point is this season.
Several teams are strongly interested in Bouwmeester. The best package they're willing to offer right now might very well be the best package the Flames will get for him - ever. I'd be willing to wait until the draft to move him. But with his NTC, if we wait until next year's trade deadline we could be looking at repeat of the Iginla situation - only 2 or 3 bidders who have all the leverage.

Ya, I don't think the Flames will get a first and top prospect for JayBow but I do think they should trade him ASAP. This is the best he's played as a Flame, he might go back to another 5 goal season next year and his trade value would be in the negatives again (like the past couple of years). I think you trade him to whichever team he agrees to and gives you the best package. I would love the Flyers first and Couturier even if it cost us JayBow + anything but prospects/picks

Note to Fans of this thread: JayBo has a NTC, Meaning he will NOT be approving a trade to a team out of the playoffs. this includes: NYI, Philly, Edmonton.
That is all, carry on.

if he has had enough of CGY, and wants out, i think it's plausible that he'd be willing to go to a bubble team in the hunt.
The fact that few teams that are at the top of the standings could afford his contract next season also means that he would need to be more lenient in the choice of destinations.

Philly is only two points out. Not to mention that they have some good young players... This is probably the lowest in the standings that they will be over the next few years.

This is wishful thinking. It's already been said that he will not agree unless the team is solidified in a playoff spot.
...and quite frankly, with his track record, I wouldn't want to trade for him unless my team was assured a playoff spot already.

It's been said has it? By which media/player/agent/gm ? Or are you quoting a CP post?

Best scenario for the Flames is that teams like Detroit, Philly, LA and STL are in a bidding war for Bouwmeester. Best offer gets him. IMO I think Bouwmeester can land you a 1st round, top prospect and a mid tier prospect. Out of any of those teams interested I would look at Detroit. Jarnkrok would be the player I would target.

I still think a Bouwmeester to LA for Derek Fobort, Nick Shore and a 2014 1st rounder would be a good trade for both teams.

...and then see if we can flip LA's 2014 1st rounder to Columbus for LA's 2013 1st rounder.
Why? ...because I'm a fan, and would rather have the extra pick for this years draft, as opposed to having to wait until 2014.
