We don't need salary relief, we just shed 7 million.

And we'll be hard pressed to find anyone worth signing with that amount next season anyway. Nor should we even bother.
A rebuilding team shouldn't be a cap team.

Jay is putting up good numbers. Flames eat some salary and i think they fetch a bunch for him.

This franchise is a joke. Overpay with nmc and then beg for the right to trade.

First, he has to be open to a trade there and waive his NMC. Hometown or not, hardly the contender he'd likely be looking for.

I think it's a safe bet that he would be willing to go to Edmonton

Umm what?
Bouwmeester has slightly better offensive numbers than God's gift to hockey - Justin Schultz.
And Bouwmeester is also good at that other thing called defense.
He is worth 2 first round picks (though, unfortunately, Flames management is not capable of extracting full value in trades)

I love posts like these. So authoritative yet completely removed from reality.

From the 4th Period: Kings could target Tanguay, Sarich
Quote:
Lombardi might not be done with the Flames just yet, however, as he's also inquired about the availability of veteran forward Alex Tanguay and defenseman Cory Sarich
Tanguay, who leads the Flames in scoring with 25 points, owns a no-trade clause, while Sarich has a no-movement clause, and both players would need to approve any deal Calgary attempts to complete.
The Kings want to add a stay-at-home defenseman prior to Wednesday's 3pm ET deadline, and Sarich's price tag isn't expected to be extremely high. The 34-year-old also has one-year left on his contract, beyond this season, at a salary cap hit of $2 million. Tanguay, 33, would give the Kings another offensive threat to alternate between their first and second lines.

Why? Because he was born there?
Comrie, and Heatly (Alberta born), don't agree that it's a good enough reason to sign there...nevermind I am sure he would want to be part of a playoff team this year and next, if he's given that choice.

Ya we only have almost 20 million in cap room next year, time for some desperate trades to hit 30.

Getting rid of Tanguay for an asset would be huge, probably would be my first choice for a guy to jettison. Getting softer and less involved in the game and still has lots of years left on the deal. Good powerplay help for the right team though.

Jeesus, talk about setting the bar low. I sure hope Feaster has more ambition than that.
It's pretty simple...we don't need to trade Bouwmeester like we needed to trade Iginla. If we don't get a good return now, we keep him and see what happens at the draft or next year. You don't panic and ship him off for nothing just to get cap relief we don't even need.

He looked useless last night without Iginla anywhere in the building to find for a pass. Until he moves on, the Flames should dress someone in #12 or rename Comeau from Blake to Jarome, anything to figure some way to emulate Iginla's presence.
Sarich is a good guy and deserves to play somewhere...back with Darryl would be good for him.

Listen to his interview where he talked about wanting to stay in Calgary. It sounded very much to me like he and his wife would be just as happy in Edmonton (it's the NY and LA type destinations that I think he wouldn't like)
And as a Flames fan I hate to say this, but I think the Oilers - with Bouwmeester - make the playoffs next year for sure and they still have an outside shot for this year (though very unlikely)

Uggggh.... I know it's been said but seeing the rumoured effect the NTC/NMC had on Iginla's return makes me worry about possible the effect on other trades. Seems like anyone we have who could be available (Tangs, Bouw, Sarich, Babchuk, etc) has to approve their deal.
No more please.

Edmonton or Detroit are the two most likely destinations for JBow. This is what I'd like to see:
Edm: '13 1st, '13 2nd, D Prospect, MPS, Conditional '14 1st (we eat 2-2.5M)
Det: '13 1st, Quincey, Filppula, Nyquist/Jarnkrok/Frk,

That package would take Feaster from 'should be fired' to GM of the year.

I read a rumor about the Canucks calling about Tanguay. It wasn't from a really reliable source or anything, it was just a poster on another forum who's had somewhat solid info in the past. But as the story goes, Gillis called about Tanguay and Feaster asked for Schneider in return. Who knows if it's true, but if it is I imagine the conversation didn't go much further after that.
