I think Bo is worth a first in 10-20 range depending on what else is included. Edmonton looking for sure to be top ten pick?
Although, I do doubt trading with Ed.

Why is Bouwmeester not worth a top 10 pick. What are the odds you're going to get a top 1-2 defenseman who can play 25-30 minutes a game with a low pick.

I'd be shocked if the Oilers aren't last in the West.

Why do you say that? I haven't watched much of the Oilers recently, but I would think that Bouwmeester would address a very obvious and important deficiency on that team and could be a key piece to get them into the playoffs this year.
The Oilers having a top 5 pick even without Bouwmeester seems far-fetched to me, are they still that bad?

prepare for the Butt Hurt if you are scoffing at a top 10 pick and prospect for Jaybo, we likely get far less
remember when everyone wanted to buy him out?

Because Bouw will probably not waive to go to another bottom feeder. If we do trade him it will be to a contender -- 20-30 overall pick -- As such we should get a 2nd round pick on top of that. Say we trade him to Montreal i'd hope for a 1st from Montreal + our 2nd back + a decent prospect or young roster player i.e. Eller. Montreal has the forward depth to give up one of their young forwards.

It's off an Eklund rumor. The other offer was 2 2nds and a prospect. I think Paajarvi should be a good fit for the Flames. I'd give him and the 2nds for Bouwmeester.

As much as I'd like a 1st to be included, I'd be alright with gettin two solid prospects from a good drafting team like Detroit in lieu of the 1st. Maybe add a 2nd in. I dunno, Detroit seems to have this innate ability to turn picks into players.

Keep ur 2 2nds and give us a 1st. If Edmonton trades for Bouw its cause they feel they have a shot at the show this year, put ur money where your mouth is. Calgary will want u guys to overpay if you want Bouw and that's understandable.

The asking price for Bouw to go up North will be higher then to anyone else, only because its edmonton

It's been said before and not to sound like a broken record but I really don't think St.Louis is gonna trade their top scorer. But stranger things have happened.

I think the Oilers finish 10th.
I can't believe I am saying this but I think Edmonton would be a good location for Bouwmeester as long as the package started with their 1st.
I am not a fan of Paajarvi, but we could use a 2nd - 3rd line RW.
I would not trade Smid if I were EDm, re-sign him, add JBo and you finally are on your way to having an NHL defense.
As long as their 1st is included, I would even be happy with something like their 1st + Khaira

Douglas Murray was just traded for 2 2nd's and Paajarvi is a meh prospect, likely holding the value of a 3rd round pick at this stage. Are you honestly suggesting the value delta between Douglas Murray and Jbo is 3rd pick or meh prospect? If so you've clearly never watched Murray play and are way, way off base.

I'm okay with Magnus Paajarvi, doesn't seem to fit in with the oilers. He was one of the better Swedish prospects and has some history with Backlund.

This seems like the best opportunity that the Oilers will have to get a top pair D without having to trade one of Hall, Eberle, Yakupov, or Hopkins. It sucks for them, but they are not an appealing FA destination, so they are going to have to get one through trade or hope to develop one. The other nice thing about Bouwmeester for them is that he likes western Canada and would probably be open to re-signing there.

Yeah, Doug Murray is a hell of a lot closer to Cory Sarich at this point than Jay Bouwmeester. Which makes me wonder... what can we get for Sarich?

Expecting a 1st rounder through trade is pie in the sky. The gift here is salary relief. Anything else is gravy.
