Oh wait, it is the player's choice. Sorry he decided not to go to wherever Meehan said he would go.

If I knew my agent was using me as a pawn in someone else's negotiation, they would no longer be my agent.
Meehan will just get what's good for all his clients anyway. He doesn't need to ask for favors from Jay Feaser.

And hard to imagine he would still be certified by the NHL.

Our top prospect played 3rd and 4th line minutes and then was demoted to the AHL. Calgary has no interest in developing prospects. I am pretty sure his agent has made him aware of how Calgary operates. No chance he signs with Calgary.

Developing prospects takes several games and weeks, not years and years. Keen insight.

We are the laughing stock of the league right now. No chance he signs here.

It's probably like picking up a 3rd round pick for nothing so it's OK but he'll get a stupidly high entry level deal for a 22 year old stay at home prospect who you have to guarantee NHL minutes to.
Wouldn't be choked if the Flames added him given where they are at relative to the playoffs but for any team in the chase promising him minutes is dumb imo.

He's a free asset, but don't expect a superstar player. Still, he would likely compete for a roster spot on any NHL team so the league wide interest is justified..

I have no idea what Dekeyser is like.... but Justin Schultz will be very good. All you have to do is watch him and you can see that he will be. Yep, he leads the Oil at -11, but he also leads the Oil in time on ice - not so bad for a rookie defenseman. And yes, I know what there defense is like, but...

they aren't, so they have "family advisors". Which, in my opinion, is just another name for "agent".

Why on earth would he want to join the Flames? We have nothing going for us and just starting our rebuild, meaning we're at the worst stage of it. He's either going to sign with an up and coming team, or a competitive team that's going for the cup. Unfortunately, we're neither.

They aren't allowed to officially have one until they leave school. Dekeyser obviously has one now.

So Don Meehan is his family advisor? Sounds a bit strange.
