Cue the speculating on great prospects and crushing disappointment when we get somebody's random fifth round pick from three years ago.

More speculation of another team looking for top 4D is Carolina Hurricanes.

"In the first overall pick, the Calgary Flames select....."
"In the 2nd pick, the Calgary Flames select...."
"In the 3rd overall pick, the Calgary Flames select...."
Bettman frowns, clears his throat, and continues, "In the 4th overall pick, the Calgary Flames select..."
Bettman looking a bit flustered now, pulls on his collar and his eyes dart around the room, "In the fifth overall pick, Calgary selects...."
Bettman now grinning foolishly, "In the sixth pick, they...I mean those Cowtown folks...pick..."
Bettman, looking very relieved and a bit more businesslike says, "In the seventh pick, the Florid...." He stops as someone whispers in his ear. Bettman looks like he's considering quitting on the spot, appears to mouth, F*** it to himself, but resignedly continues, "Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a trade to announce. The Calgary Flames have acquired the seventh pick for...."

Why? Honestly I don't understand CP's bromance with Rattie, if we're dealing with the Blues I want Schwartz, Cole and a 1st.

Hopefully teams are really pushing hard for some of our guys. Some extra value from trading Iggy just might come from the market it creates for our other players. They know we are willing to deal, just hope we use all the leverage we have to force some overpayment. There seems to be few potential sellers this year, its really up to the Flames to take full advantage of the situation which is both scary and exciting.

While i feel JBO or Gio would rather go to a sure fire playoff team, the Hurricanes are probably the only team out of the playoffs that they might waive to. They have the pieces to be in the playoffs next year and maybe do some damage

Honestly, I don't want Rattie or Schwartz. Both are small and soft, and frankly, after watching every single Portland post-season game in 2011, Rattie's quite the diver as well.
A couple of guys I'm kind of intrigued about are Nick Jensen of St. Cloud State University and Petr Mrazek from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Why Nick Jensen? He's from St. Cloud State where Hanowski is from, so there's no questioning that Flames scouts are very familiar with him.
Why Petr Mrazek? A 2.33 GAA, 0.916 SV% in the AHL was enough to get him called up to Detroit where he's posted a 2.02 GAA and a 0.922 SV%. Plus, he's only 21.

Mrazek's rated highly on HF. St . Louis could be an interesting trading partner if only because they may be more apt to "panic" right now than the Wings, especially if Detroit signs DeKeyser.

I would be happy with either of Nyquist or Jarnkrok, along with a 1st. Those two guys look like they'll become 2nd liners at minimum.
