It's not that Feaster screwed up or the Flames management are idiots; that's just the reality of the market, especially when you're bound by a NMC. Guys like Hossa and Kovalchuk could be auctioned off to anyone and even they mostly returned crap outside of the 1st round picks. And it's even tougher when you only have a maximum of 3 potential destinations.
It's become pretty clear that if you want to get maximum value for a player you have to trade them with some term left on their deal.

Sorry can't agreee with this. If UFA Morrow can get back the best D prospect in a trade, then Iggy should at least get a very good prospect and a 1st.
I think you might be underestimating how bad our management team really is. It really looks like they got played by both Boston and Pitt. Neither of the 2 offers were any good. One offer had a first with mey prospects and the other offer had a better prospect and a conditional 1st. Either way management and ownership have no idea what they are doing.

Well, that was a fun night chaps.
Nothing to do now but go to bed, get a good night's sleep so we can all get up bright and early, have a couple of belts of scotch, and try to get in at least 10 minutes of work between refreshes of CP.
Still got an interesting weekend ahead of us.

Dumb callers. I don't know how Pat keeps it together and not just swear at them.

The last caller was an HF troll rehashing the lame jokes that are still apparently hilarious over there.

I like the deal a lot more than Boston one, particularly including that Flames have two contracts left and therefore more flexibility. Almost any prospect is a roll of the dice, and I like the sound of these two Far more than an undersized Russian and a 25 year old 6th defensemen.

I wonder how many of these callers are Calgary puck posters.

Hopefully 0.
Although I'd love to hear one of them call in to say how Iggy was never going to the Pens because he's just too slow.

Go get 'em Jarome. Having to head to work now probably a blessing. Alternative would have been poisonous levels of alcohol and watching Iginla youtube clips.

How come the Flames are starting to win again? What would happen if the Flames somehow win the cup this year without Iggy?

Just some food for thought, but #1 seed's whoare the expert's picks to win a Stanley Cup can still be upset by the #8 seed. If playoffs started today, they'd be playing the Rangers and with Lundqvist at the top of his game an upset would not be out of the realm of possibility. So if Pittsburgh went out 1st round, we'd have the 15-18th pick along with out own likely top 8 pick. That is not bad in a deep draft. Bare in mind, you'd have to cheer against Iggy and the Pens for that to happen, which for myself, would make me feel a little dirty. But would 2 picks in the top 20, appease some of you naysayers out there?
EDIT: Also, if the season ended today we'd have an 6.2% chance of 1st overall and could do no worse than 7th, possibly someone like Monahan or Lindholm.

the return tells me 2 things
jarome's list of four was a list of one, this was his only destination
he will re-sign with the flames, if not the conditional pick with the bruins would not be an issue, with the pens up against the cap the only team i see re-signing iggy is the flames.

I think its pretty obvious this was a mercy deal to give Iginla his cup for all his service in Calgary. It sucks... really I have no expectations for any of this return. I don't expect anyone from this deal to ever play a NHL game.
