How did we not get Mattaa or even Dumoulin? come on.
Still happy for Iggy, though. Cheering hard for the Pens in the playoffs!

That's fine. But as a lifelong Flames fan, I want to see the long-term longevity and success of the Flames hockey club rather than watch a guy fulfill his dream winning the Cup. This trade was catered to suit Iginla, and Iginla alone no matter how the butter is spread.
I wish Iggy the best, but this was not a trade that was in the best interest of the club, which is troubling at best to me.

Whole frickin Flames team is made of 3rd and 4th lines to play with Iggy. Smallish, what's new? So, yeah, he'd fit in well for the Flames.

An hour ago, his upside was as a second liner... Now he could have been a first liner?

I'm happy for the individual, but not happy for the collective.
Welcome to the Dark Years, redux. It was only a few years ago we were the Division champions and regularly making the playoffs, even if we weren't winning them.

He earned that right. The boneheads that ran this team had 17 bloody years to get him a centre. And he took 2 hometown discounts that cost him 10-15 million over his career.
Flames can get bent right now.

Not sure the Pens were willing to surrender bigger players like that. I'm not convinced this is anything more than a big rental player to them. The offerings are likely going to be less.
Plus...after giving up Morrow, they're starting to have to consider that their blue chip bag of D prospects isn't limitless.

Totally. It's been 16 years of excuses with that guy. He never lived up to his potential.

90 percent of radio hosts wouldn't let him go half the amount of time that Steinberg does.

Just curious as to how that was supposed to occur.
Im no feaster apologist, but I have no doubt that this return is about all there was gonna be with Iginla in the drivers seat....and i dont think the return is that bad all things considered.

The fact that the sticking point was the "conditional" first on the B's deal maybe the Flames do have some sort of hush hush re-sign with the Flames agreement going on. This would be a great trade then.
