Or it'll be like other recent trade deadlines where the big trades happen a couple days before and the talking heads twiddle their thumbs for 8hrs on deadline day with nothing new to discuss because no major trades happen.
I think we see a couple moves this weekend, and then the majority of them Monday/Tuesday as teams try to beat eachother to the punch instead of waiting.

Sportsnet reports Jonathan Bernier and a first round pick would likely make Jarome Iginla a member of the #LAKings

At first I was worried that Feaster/Flames will end up negotiating themselves out of a deal for not budging on the high return, however I'm actually glad Feaster is aiming high and not freaking out like most people who just want the deal to get done...as if we're asking too high...
It's Jarome Iginla, regardless of being 36 yrs old... you want our captain? Then pay up you cheap #######s, otherwise no deal. Good on ya Feaster. I mean look at the return for Brendan Morrow; anyone who thinks Iggy isn't worth twice that is delusional. I don't blame the teams in the running for trying to drive the price down, they know very well how important it is to hang on to your high end prospects.
I'm not one to think that everything is gonna get screwed up even if he doesn't get dealt at the deadline, I honestly believe things will work themselves out regardless...

I am happy with that trade if Kipper is retiring after the season

Geez, with a package like that, it really makes one wonder if Kipper is walking away at the end of this season.
Enjoy the Flames best goalie in the last two decades while you can, folks. We might only be seeing him for another month and a half.

I would want more, but thats me I guess.
As long as jarmoes cast are also moved for picks/prospects/players I'd be ok with it.
Its not that I think that these (flames) players suck, I just believe it will be difficult for them to function as a team, they're way to beat up.
That would bea 2014 1st round PICK FYI
Seems like any organization with Darryl Sutter trades all their 1sts.

It's a fine line that Feaster has to walk. It could go both way's, he waits and gets something closer to what he wants. He waits and a couple of teams go in a different direction, he is left with one team and has to settle. Also if the team starts to mail it in in the next couple of games, the chance of injuries can increase.
Don't envy Feaster in this situation at all. Granted all he had to do was take last years 9th place team and turn them into an 8th place team and Iggy probably would have re-signed.

Of course the real kicker here is that the LA Kings don't have a 2013 first round pick right now.
Get to work Lombardi.

Also you can't just use Kaberle's return as the bench mark. That was a one sided trade, done by a manager that has a lot more respect around the league than our current GM.
|
The level of respect for Feaster among the managers is something we know nothing about, and it's irrelevant - the issue is what Calgary will accept in exchange for Iginla, irrespective of how competent/incompetent Feaster might be, or whether the other managers like or respect him.
If Feaster thinks he can keep Iginla, and can re-sign him if he doesn't get any offers he likes, he'll set the price high, and walk away from lesser offers. Otherwise, he starts high and negotiates down.

The Joe Morrow hype seems a little out of control, but going by what I have read, he sounds like a better prospect than Spooner (who is the name most often being mentioned as the centrepiece coming back for Iginla).
I have to admit, I never even heard of Spooner before these rumours started. I had heard of Joe Morrow. I realize that it's a stupid way of looking at it and that who I have and haven't heard of is meaningless, but I'd be lying if I said that it didn't affect my opinion. I won't use it to judge the trade when (or if) it happens, but it's easier to get excited about a prospect with name recognition.

I doubt LA would offer that, but if they did, that would be as good as the flames could get.

I can't find this link on Sportsnet anywhere, I don't believe it until someone produces a link.
Take that crap to the speculation thread.

Whatever that is, before the deadline, you take it.
That will be his trade and market value, within the restrictive parameters.
|
Exactly. The whole upper executive and hockey operations team will look over all of the deals on the table and take the best one. Whether fans like it or not, that will be Iginla's value.

I'd much prefer if the prospect wasn't a goalie (Toffoli please), but I'd be happy with that type of trade. I honestly think that's about as good as one can realistically expect....a solid prospect, and a 1st rounder.

An update from a very reliable source:
Upper management/owners are working on things this morning. Iginla is the main topic of discussion but the Flames are also looking at trading smaller pieces as well.
|
I know it's Iginla, but I really wish we didn't hear things like this. Just adds more fuel to the fire that Ken King is sticking his fingers in the GM's business, although that may not be such a bad thing given that Feaster is losing respect with fans - and fast.

Don't the Kings not have their 1st this year? Guess it'd have to be next year's 1st?

I though it was obvious, owners were going to be very inovled in anything remotely Iginla related?

I'm not sure if the owners and Feaster are contemplating a trade or if Feaster is presenting a trade that's conditional on the owners acceptance. Either way, the main thing I got from my source is that the owners/management are prepared to move things forward. It's real. Iginla will be traded.
