I wonder how long before Spector writes an article about what a bad teammate Iginla is over the refusal to talk or something like that.
I also love how the Bruins are trying to negotiate through the media in this
A) prices are sky high, if they go any higher iit will be into the stratusphere
B) subban and Spooner are not available
C) calgary better be careful they dont screw this up
Thanks Chiaralli

Yeah, I have no faith in Feaster anymore.
I am scared everytime I click on CP ready to see 11 Iginla has been traded threads.

Feaster will be the one working the phones, but make no mistake - any deal to move Iginla will only happen with the blessing of Feaster, Weisbrod, King, and Edwards. Whatever transpires, or doesn't, it will be on the whole braintrust of the Flames.
That won't stop fans burning Feaster if effigy if the don't like the deal (and I'm betting they won't). But I suppose being the fall guy for the failings of the whole franchise is one of the things Feaster knew he was signing on for when he accepted the job.

On the other hand, you can start with modest demands, and as more teams make pitches you can play them off against one another. Better to string them along and raise the price closer to the deadline than set an unrealistic price early and drive bidders into the arms of other options.
|
It also helps open a conversation. These type of deals take time and can be complicated, you don't want to there on deadline day with no chair to sit in once the music has stopped.

I'd like to see Hartley bench Iginla tonight even if he did score the game winner last game. He'll come back strong with a couple hat tricks here and there in however many games before the trade deadline and the Flames deal him for everything he is worth those last few games...

You don't start off low and keep raising the price when the other side gets to your perceived value point, THAT is how you drive someone away.
Don't worry, what the Flames are doing is right. The complaining about the value being too high is par for the course. If they weren't interested, they wouldn't be complaining.

I just hope the fans can accept in a few years that there is a big possibility that we will have nothing to show for trading Iginla. That is not a knock on Feaster or Iginla, but rather just the way it is in these situations. Here's hoping we can strike gold though...
There is the hope (or belief) that if we sweeten the pot, that we can get a tier 1 prospect back, but I don't see it.

That's why I like picks better. I just don't think that's the direction management will take.

We've missed out on so many trades (loktionov for instance) that I'm doubting feasters ability to lead the charge on this. He just not "in the loop" he'll get bent over by a good gm in an effort to not get run out of town.

The Flames should have dealt Iginla sooner.
He is worth a 1st Round Pick and 1 Prospect or Roster player and that's it.

Boston media are the biggest homers in all of sports. If you watch a Celtics game they basically cheer for the Celtics the entire game.

I can see gms working togther to keep the price low rather fanning a flaming bidding war. There are only 3-4. Its easy for them to conspire together.
So waiting sees if hey will crack.
Also, iggy is proud. I could see him adding a couple more to the list in a few days if the four do not come through
And i would hate to be the gm who has to explain why jarome's team knocked them out, with iggy being series mvp, when they were supposed to get him. The last thing you want to face in a seven game series is a good team including iggy, when he has somethng to prove and twenty guy committed to getting him a ring.

I keep wondering if there's a scheme going on. Like both parties know they just want to resign so they come up with asks to purposely price them selves out of the market. Then they can say they tried. Also that would protect Iginla somewhat if fans thought he wasn't cooperating.
I watch too much Game of Thrones obviously...

That won't happen, the GM's in the Iginla sweepstakes aren't going to show their hands to their competition.

C'mon folks its the Flames we are talking about. Look for Iggy to get injured in one of the next couple of days and sign in Vancouver in the off-season. Like a woman scorned tis us Flames fans.

This forum seems to have two beliefs on this situation.
1. Feaster can not be trusted and will be fleeced by other GMs.
2. He's asking for too much and will screw it up.
It is odd that both of these contradicting paradigms exist.
