Just asking, does anyone think that it would make sense for the Oilers and Sabres to hook up sending Myers to Edmonton for one of their good forward prospects (with secondaries to make up the difference)

Myers has been pretty disappointing and already has a pretty big cap hit. In theory, I think such a trade would work well for the Oilers, but at this point, who knows if he will rebound.

While a couple of the Oilers young guys might be a little off track at the moment, I don't think they are long term issues (just players developing still). I don't know if the same can be said about Myers.

I agree that the Sabres would have to add something to make up for the potential/cap hit issue, but I just look at the Oilers and I see a team that is completely disjointed in how they were constructed, with them being all forwards and Schultz.

Both have had some injury issues thus far, IIRC. I suppose we could also blame the sophomore jinx on RNH--he doesn't look comfortable out there? At least that's what I picked up on in the limited viewings I've had.

I think they should look at something like Yakupov + Someone for Myers + Pysyk, for sure. Their defense hasn't been bad this year but it's only a matter of time before it falls apart

Still don't think they should have drafted Yakupov. Really unimpressed with his play so far. That draft pick should have been moved

Hall is playing at a PPG pace which is impressive for his age, Gagner is nearly at PPG. Yakupov is having an ok rookie season. Yeah, Kevin Lowe and Tambellini built this team in the same way that some of us draft a hockey pool. Wait that's giving them too much credit for not failing at hockey. They built their team like a crow builds its nest "Oh shiny"

Those two have no idea about building a actual succesful NHL team. They're thin at center, their bottom 6 is awful, they pretty much draft underwhelming physical specimens, they pay no attention to their blueline.

The fortunate thing for the Oilers is that Dubnyk has taken a surprising step forward and stopped some of the bleeding, without him, this Oilers team is probably sitting at about 7 wins.

Their offense is terrible, they have all these hyper skilled guys that don't have finish, their defense allows close to or do allow the most shots in the NHL.

Krueger was the wrong coach for this team. I was watching the game and RF was extoiling how during every time out the Oilers would go to the bench and old Ralphy would pull out a blackboard and teach them hockey 101 and all of the players were enraptured. But tick tack toe isn't hockey nor is a cross word puzzle. The Oiler's instead of once again dropping into the old boys network, should have found that task master coach instead of a teaching nice guy coach to go in there and start kicking these players in one direction, because that team sure looks like a group of individuals on ice.

At this point the Oilers are solidly built around a loser culture, and it goes right from the owner who messed up the negotiations for the arena and tried such ham handed maneuvers as pretending to shop for new arena situations in Hamilton and Seattle and pushed it to the point where the city council threw up their hands and told him to F off until he could get serious.

They have a President in Lowe who is a blundering mush brain who has leveraged his connections to be the coffee boy of the team Canada brain trust and drive the Oilers into the turf for 7 years.

They have Tambellini who is there to take heat for Lowe and eventually strap himself to the cross for Lowe.

The fear should be, that if there isn't a cleanout of the Oilers management office after yet another failure that some of those young superstars start asking to be moved the hell out of that organization.

As bad as the Flames are, the only saving grace is that there is a worse management team up North.

Look if I'm going to be miserable following my team, at least I can get a little pleasure in seeing that owner and management team burning that franchise to the ground.

If the Flames rebuild goes along a similar path as the Oilers, get ready for some very very hard years ahead Flame fans.

Oh we're ready, we know its coming, hopefully it won't be as 0 results as the Oilers rebuild.

But for the next while the Battle of Alberta will be like a cheerleader dance off where neither sides cheerleaders are all that good, or attractive, or woman

Posting on the 31st of January, 14th and 28th of February, and 15th of March is "after every Jets win" and has nothing to do with the statement I made, that I was posting standings of Canadian based teams in the middle and ends of each month? Perhaps you can tell me what constitutes the middle, and end of each month then. I would love to hear it.

Don't worry about it, after reading some of the posts by some members in here they are the ones that really look like fools!

I think they should wait until Wednesday ~10:30 PM. Either it'll be lock time or post-more time

They could actaully make the playoffs this year if luck is on their side. Extremely far fetched view but imagine them knocking Hawks off. I'd love to see that personally.

They won't make the playoffs, but they'll be in the running until the last week. That will add to the "next year" hype the organization continuously spews out.

Some teams can legitimately 'spew' "next year" and some can realistically 'spew' "next decade". Which camp are you in?

You have got to be kidding. The crap that would spew forth from the hockey media if that happened would be enough to choke a horse. Hell if Sports Illustrated was picking them to finish 3rd overall before a game had been played this year, how bad would it be if they snuck into the playoffs and knocked off the Hawks? Vomit inducing, I tells ya.

Neither, just making a comment on teams PR.
