The Sprint Centre looks like a beautiful building.

It really is. They have done a fantastic job remolding the entire landscape of Downtown KC. They have made the Power and Light District which surrounds the Sprint Centre and there are all kinds of wonderful restaurants and bars around that area, including a huge outdoor patio with couches, little firepits, all covered and heated, which is where the fans who don't have tickets watch the game. It's like a giant block party. I thought maybe they'd put a hockey team in KC but I doubt it will happen. Pro hockey teams don't do well here. This is NFL Football and College Basketball heaven. I guess we have the Royals, and the good news is you can by a ticket at the K for $4.00 and a hot dog.
Some pictures if you care to look:
Courtesy of my step son today:

This one is from last year when it was about 75 degrees and normal in KC:
Good idea of the Sprint Centre from last year's tournament.

I'm sure we'll see this headline some, but "Sweet #15". Florida Gulf Coast did beat Miami this year too. Impressive team.

Who are these guys? This is spectacular!
And they get FLORIDA on Friday at Cowboys Stadium! I think they'll be just a little pumped for that.

A 12, 13 and 15 in the Sweet Sixteen. And two more number one's could be gone too. Wide, wide open tournament right now, La Salle might be the only team I don't think can win it (not enough size), but at this point even they still could win it.

Creighton didn't even put up a fight against Duke today. Terrible.
Will be interesting to see if Doug McDermott leaves school.
One Valley team left, and they've got LaSalle for a chance to go to the Elite Eight.

Marshall Henderson keeping it classy as always
Quote:
Henderson also created plenty of controversy along the way by taunting opposing fans and teams at times on the court and a care-free attitude off it. He added one final chapter to his season in the spotlight by giving the finger (with both hands) to someone in the crowd as he headed to the locker room after the game.
Quote:
I asked Marshall Henderson why he flipped off the crowd: "someone yelled that my sister is a whore and said something about cocaine."

Haha the guy is without question the biggest #### talker in the college basketball world, all for a guy who doesn't even shoot 40%, and he cries and complains when fans give it right back to the guy? Lets be real, if he hit the game winning 3 he'd have been on the table, whipping his #### out to the La Salle fans.
32 possesions he touched it in the tournament and passed it 9 times, had 3 more turnovers than assists and scored 40 points on 42 shots in the two tournament games. All this guy does is talk, he's not even a future D-Leaguer. Good riddance.

Of course he's inefficient and selfish. Do they make the tournament without him? Don't think so. Team needed to take a chance on him and I'd say it paid off. You take the good with the bad.
As far as good riddance goes... Sure he's polarizing. I get why you're glad he's done, but wasn't he one of the most fun stories to follow since the Vandy game? We sure needed him because Trey Burke being the best player in the country doesn't make for great stories. No top team wasn't making a good national story. We needed Marshall to cheer for or against and we got him. Good riddance doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

La Salle is a way better story, a team that hasn't been to the round of 16 since it didn't actually exist (1955). And Florida Gulf Coast has stolen everyone's thunder, essentially rendering the rest of the teams second fiddle. I actually liked Ole Miss's chances if they played inside out last night, instead Henderson goes 4-15 from deep. It cost them the game, had they pounded it against the 4 guard Explorers they would have won easily.
And he actually emboldened hecklers by responding. Now people know they can get to him.

We didn't need his story for March. Those tend to write themselves just because of the nature of the tournament. We needed his story in January and February.
Love La Salle and the South Philly floater. FGCU is maybe the top story in sports right now let alone tournament.

Hoping for a Wichita State vs Arizona matchup for the right to go to the Final Four. I think that's a favorable matchup for the Shockers if they can get past LaSalle..

Shaka Smart stays at VCU, 10-year extension to 2023. I mean for as much as we talk about wanting to win titles and having to be at power schools to do that, unless you're someone like Coach K or Jim Boeheim, you don't have much job security. Ben Howland went to three straight Final Fours and he's unemployed right now. Shaka can make good money at VCU and have job security for life.

I think you will see Gregg Marshall sign a similar extension once Wichita State's season is over.
