I'll be the optimistic guy. It's going to be a sellers market and we're going to get significant returns for our assets!

My god do we ever need the emergence of Sven to happen next year. Not to win games, but just to know that we do have assets in the cupboard that are going to get us through this unmitigated disaster.

This is the dumbest argument ever about drafting. If Ottawa doesn't take Daigle then he would have been taken by the next team. He was projected by EVERYBODY to be the best player from the draft so why not take him? If the Flames have a shot at drafting Mackinnon then they better take him. It's ultimately up to the players to become as good as they are said to be.

If Iginla enforces his NTC, thereby preventing assets flowing back to the Flames and then doesn't resign with the Flames...won't we feel a little let down?

I wouldn't take it to heart. Some of us use it as a coping mechanism.
At this point I would rather read the sarcasm than the critically thought out despair. I might get a laugh out of the former.

I'm starting to think North Korea is going to blow it up before the Flames do...

I think it would be a good idea if Flames brass asked Nate Mackinnon if he has any Acting Aspirations during the draft interviews.

Iginla has mentioned several times that he will not block a trade if asked.

I would take whoever is the best player available. Also, I would not trash the team like so many of the people on this forum do, this is just classless. Like some other poster put it, it's unbelievable how some of you "can't talk about the team without being sarcastic, annoying, arrogant, blowhards".
This is our team, we gotta support it not trash it. It's also sickening to hear all all these "trade Iginla" chants, he's the captain, heart and soul of this team and he isn't going anywhere I hope. If he does it'll be a sad day for Calgary. I'd like to see the look on your face when Mackinnon becomes a bust and you will be stuck with watching Peverley on a daily basis.

It is plain and simple.
These guys simply do not care. Why should we as fans? We are cheering for nothing, just our own misery.

All i'm saying is that drafting top player isn't a guarantee your team will turn around, there is a good chance it will be a bust and the team will continue sucking even harder

Actually he said he would consider it, which is his contractual right.

I don't remember them looking good at all in those losses.
They looked like the same defensively clueless team they look like now.

You are right one guy decided that he hated hockey so no reason to get the #1 pick.

Good chance?
Most top 3 picks turn out and most of the top players in the game are top 3 picks.
