As much as people wanna hate on the Flames, the fact remains that this team would be much higher in the standings if the goalies were even playing average NHL calibre hockey.

I appreciate the fact that these guys have opened up the game a bit and that the general feel around this team is lighter than it was in previous years.... but the results say it all. Good teams can win on the road, good teams can win 3 games in a row.
I was optimistic but that Cali roadtrip and this loss have me on the sell bandwagon. This just isn't working and i hope that Feaster and Weisbrod take a longer-term view instead of falling into a playoff or bust mentality.

Yeah, but we all know their view point is that once you get into the playoffs anything is possible...face palm. Man I really wish the standings weren't so tight, it gives this management false hope. I really do love watching the Flames win, but it sure would be nice to be sitting with a top 5 pick come June 30, and maybe add another first rounder in there from an Iginla trade.

Such a old tired cliche.
If the Flames win on Thursday, does that game matter? Or Friday? Every game matters and you can't win them all. This above comment gets said after every loss it seems.
The slogan of "Every Game Matters" was a realy poor choice from the organization as it just leaves room for so much criticism.

In fairness it was ANOTHER opportunity to go above .500 and they didn't get it done. It's it not like they were mired in a 5 game losing streak or were 8-2 in their last 10. This .500 thing is like a mental barrier to the team and it must be driving them nuts. It's certainly driving the fan base nuts.

The Stars outshot the Flames 12-5. They outchanced the Flames 12-3 (according to Flames Nation). It's hilarious that this somehow counts as a lucky start. We got dominated and were lucky to be down only 3-0.

The team basically needs to win 2 of every 3. Possible.

Only 5 teams are playing at above that pace so far. And not only do we need to do that, but one of the 6 better teams we need to pass can't get hot either. I wouldn't keep my hopes up.

It's gotten to the point where Flames fans are wearing bags over their heads while watching the game.... in their own home!

Despite one big mistake, captain has a fight, back checks, and has the best Flames shift of the season and the rest of the team still floats.
You cannot gut a team that has no guts. They are a hollow bunch. Hartley is giving them the freedom to express themselves. This is a older less talented version of Keenan Flames.
IMO big failure when Iggy has to throw down in a game with McGratton and Jackman dressed.
My fear with Hartley was that he was too far removed from NHL and would not be able to bring a modern game style to the Flames. I think that is what we are seeing here.

I have no idea if Hartely is the right coach for this team, but no coach is getting this forward group to play in their own zone.

Sutter and his Junior Style Coaching Tactics™ probably had the best success.

2nd worst goals against in the NHL?
Each and every player and coach on the team owns a piece of that.
That stat does not have a lot to do with skill.
A lot to do with winning battles, puck races, work and compete level. Oh and one more thing, mental toughness.

Made me think of the Flames right away. When the pressure is off ie. everyone is writing them off, they play great. When they get with in a game or so of 8th it all falls apart.

IMO the best teams are made with an identity in mind: teams like Boston, Anaheim and LA have a certain style. Other teams like Detroit, Chicago, Montreal and maybe Vancouver have a style that while different works for them.
New players on these teams know how they have to play in order to fit in.
Calgary does not seem to know what it wants to be. Feaster's hodge podge does not help.
Flames are the product of a committee or focus group approach.
