The reason the game time was changed by thirty minutes was for Sportsnet West to have a complete doubleheader. The Oilers-Predators game started at 1800h, 6:00 pm and games take approximately 2.5 hours.

Sven has flashes of brilliance for sure, but if you watch game in game out the kid gets pushed off the puck, turn-overs, loses puck battles, etc...an NHL coach is smart enough to see this and adjusts icetime accordingly.

He's allowed to make mistakes and develop, but he should also be held accountable and realize what he needs to work on. He'll be the better player for it in the long-run.

People rag on Hartley cause Comeau gets increased icetime and trust and Sven doesn't. That's because Comeau, despite his lack of offense, is never a liability at both ends of the ice - hate him all you want but he's earned the coach's trust....Sven will too, just give it time...

I've actually liked the way Hartley reads his players' momentum, match-ups, and shuffles lines accordingly...people seem to forget the insane mess Brent would combine...
This is actually a kind of ridiculous post... especially to say Comeau is never a liability. Hope that's a joke..lol.

Sven can make mistakes and develop? Doesn't seem like it. Obviously his time on ice is being punished by making mistakes. And him being given a chat to about his strengths, then subsequently sitting in the press box doesn't exactly help him 'work' through it. And practice isn't even close to the same as game action, especially the speed and intensity of it.

I dunno, you may like his tactics with the players, but some here may not like the way Sven is being handled.

If the issue is putting on mass and strength, having an extra 10 minutes of game time in Abbotsford isn't going to be the difference maker.
Fair enough, but confidence is something else young players need. You don't gain a lot of confidence by not playing 1 period last game and then all 3 tonight.

Let him go down.......get stronger, play a ton of minutes, rack up a lot of points. I'm hoping if Backlund is activated tomorrow Sven is the guy to be sent down. He's a huge part of the future, he needs to be playing a lot of hockey.

Nothing like watching the Oilers get Smoked on SNW right before the flames smoke the ducks. Gonna be a good night.

Shouldn't a double header feature 4 NHL teams?

Right?? Right???

Sorry, I've over tired. Go Flames!
