I'm glad I got a refund when I did. If they won't give you a refund do a chargeback on your card and let them suck an egg

Waste of time. Does hint at compensation in the future, but I LOL at thinking what kind of massive $ amount that will end up being, if any.
Chat log:
Spoiler!
You are now ready to chat with Andrew.
Andrew
Thank you for contacting EA customer support. I apologize for your wait time, as we are experiencing a high-volume of chats today. This is Andrew, how may I help you today?
you
Hi Andrew, I would like to request a refund for my SimCity Digital Deluxe version.
Andrew
For what reason are you requesting a refund?
you
I'm extremely displeased with the ongoing server problems and how it has been handled. In addition, the gameplay is buggy and crashes are common. The experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and the likelihood that I will continue playing is slim.
Andrew
I apologize for the frustration, and can totally appreciate where you're coming from on this matter. Maxis is working *nonstop* to get the servers functioning properly and get you guys back in the game, and I'd be more than happy to help you troubleshoot the game to get rid of the crashes. However, at this time, we are not currently offering refunds for the purchase of SimCity. I apologize for the frustration that I know this causes, as I've been taking these chats all day.
you
I have gone through the numerous guides and FAQ's to ensure the game is working properly, but all signs point to issues on EA/Origins end. At this point I feel robbed of $80 and wish I never bought the game, especially the deluxe version. In addition to the problems above, my friends have received refunds and will no longer be playing. With this game being a multiplayer focused region type, sadly their non-attendance is going to affect my gameplay even more. Why have they been successful in obtaining a refund while I can't?
Andrew
I can only speak to how our policy is. I personally have not given out one refund for this game, as it's against our policy and it'd be a bad move for me to offer one. That's not to say that some kind of compensation won't be offered in the future, but as of right now, I cannot offer a refund. I am genuinely sorry, as I have seen player reaction everywhere, but I'm afraid I need to abide by the policy dictated to me.
you
Then are there other options for me to pursue, such as a supervisor, e-mail, phone call or just trying again? As I said, I personally know some that have received refunds today. If it is policy, then I'm afraid a lot of your coworkers are not following it in the eyes of good customer service.
Andrew
That's disappointing to hear... About my coworkers I mean. I don't have any supervisors available, but you're more that welcome to pursue this through phone. The number is 1-866-543-5435. They'll be taking calls.
Andrew
Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
you
Good to see you are concerned about something, albeit about your coworkers though. Sadly, it took me 80 minutes to finally talk with you and I'm still on hold on the phone, now counting to 114 minutes. Thank you for your time.
LOL, to make it worse, I get the case summary e-mail and the salutation is "Dear refused," like it was changed manually.

They should offer to refund $20 back to the $80 version folks and give the DLC free to the $60 folks.
I believe some have been given the upgrade to deluxe already. But for us that have it, I will be pissed if I get a $20 coupon on future orders. I already have one that expires quickly.
I have to be honest, the server issues suck.....but most online games that come out now have massive server issues the first week or so.
I will just relax for a week and see how everything goes. I think being on Calgary Puck makes people react to other things in their life like they do when Stajan or Jbo makes a bad play.....Instant hate. LOL
The days are gone of buying a game and it being near flawless, developers know they can update the game at ill online so they push out releases that are no where near ready and expect to get it there 6 months after release.

Has anybody tried building a city with as little to no industrial at all? Both a standalone city and one that's next to a city that has some form of industry. Wondering what the effects are since I only typically see issues like "Not enough shops", "Not enough shoppers", "No workers", "No where to ship freight".
Also, has anybody else tried gifting/sharing resources and whatnot.
I attempted to gift $160K to one of my nearby cities, never showed up. I'm able to send things like firetrucks and police cars and whatnot, and send sewage the other way...but I'm not able to sell my excess water? Really confusing. Lots of other things like having the appropriate government add-on in the city right beside a new one, but still not being able to access it.
Here's my idea: if you have the game, leave it running.
EA is counting on demand dropping off... keep taxing their servers and make them pay for the capacity they thought they'd avoid buying just by riding out the initial crush.

I tried this yesterday and it is harder than I thought. I get the same issues as you.
I have an oil/industrial city who needs workers and I have a residential/commercial city who has plenty of workers and is zoned for huge residential. So far, the two cities are not interacting with each other. They may need to grow a bit more and I'm thinking I need some regional busing and trains to encourage people to go back and forth.
All in all it seems you need to create each city as a standalone city, and then when you have built up all the required services and components, you can then encourage your citizens to go about the region. Still needs some tweaking I would say.
Sharing resources seems kind of buggy to me too. Sometimes power will share, sometimes not. I can dump sewage, to a city, but I can't buy water. It isn't very intuitive or easy.
You can exit out of it to the main menu and then go onto playing the game. That's how I got around it. (Or I may have had to exit and quit totally and then start up again)
I read an article somewhere where maxis was saying "wow, 90% of people are playing our tutorial" and I was thinking yeah, because you don't really give an option to avoid the tutorial.
I played through it twice in the betas before I figured out how to not play it again.

I tried the main menu, I will try the restart and see if that works.
