I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you were saying that Mazzara wasn't involved in this episode.

No sarcasm. I think you may have mis-read my post. Erin was zombified, thus she didn't make it to Stone Mountain with her buddies.
I do like how this episode also little tidbits of other stories strewn along, like Erin and the backpacker. I hope they put more of that into other episodes. Gives you a bit of a sense of how the zombie apocalypse has affected other groups.

I really don't get all the hate for Andrea as an actress, she doesn't bother me at all and I'm usually pretty picky with acting and I didn't mind "the speech" at all. But meh...each to his own.

I was disappointed with the talking dead when Aisha called Glen Asian.
I was hoping Hartwick would have done the old "He's Korean!" line.

I assumed the hiker was with those in the cars that caused the blockade but ran away before the rest turned.

Easily, easily the best episode of the series.

I don't know what you were really expecting. she was an office worker before the apocalypse and found the sword at a neighbor's house. she wasn't a Jedi Knight, as much as the comics try to maker her look that way with the hooded robe.
Unless you have some serious formal training with swords I doubt you'd look any cooler. in fact it's a miracle she hasn't accidentally chopped her own head off after a year of swinging it around.

Totally. She should instead have some sweet nunchucks, two sais, or a bo staff.
Who needs a a sword when you can have these awesome gems?

I avoid this thread because I don't want to poo poo on everyone's party, but, if this is the difference between Show Runners, they should have done this 2 seasons ago.
That episode was what I've wanted from the series for awhile now.
What an excellent episode.

Beautiful episode.
Season 3 has not disappointed yet. How many episodes are there left in this season? I'm assuming the finale will be a war between the two groups.
Michonne is my favourite character in this series. Even ahead of Darryl. This episode just solidified her as my favourite character.

This was still a Glenn Mazarra episode, the guy whose been Show runner since the mid point of season two. Still though, you're right, this is when the show is at it's best.
Better acting would solve a lot of problems though. The constant scowling and snapping at each other seem to be the only directing choice given.

If there was a plot or dialogue they could probably flesh some of that out.
I feel like the episode was vey obviously different from the beginning. I really enjoyed it.

The Governor and Andrea not so much. I like the Governor of the books better and think it would've made for a better show as well.
|
I feel like we still may see that Governor sooner rather than later. The screws are starting to come loose very quickly. By the end of the season, we may see that side of the character very clearly.

As an actress? I don't really know, is that the complaint? Hard to tell how much is just the writing and how much of it is acting.
As a character? I can't stand Andrea.

Andrea is far and away the easiest character to hate. Her sanctimonious attitude and loyalty to the governor and Woodbury disgusts me. I haven't read the comics so I don't know how she is supposed to be portrayed but if she was written to be disliked the actress playing her is doing a damn fine job.

of all the main characters she might be the one that is written most differently for the show. in the comics she is loyal, rational, a bit guarded but willing to open up to those close to her. physically I think she's a bit younger and more tomboy-ish.
and of course, she's a master sniper. they tried sort of working that into the show, but not very well. that time on the farm when she grazed Daryl with a bullet and celebrated like she just ended the apocalypse? first of all comic Andrea doesn't mistake people she knows for zombies, and if she did shoot, the target is totally finished and she moves on to the next task without batting an eye.
I think if she were an unlikeable dummy in the comics too, fans wouldn't be upset, but the problem is she's popular so they shouldn't have screwed around with it so much.

I suppose I just don't understand where Andrea's head is at. She has these delusions that the world will eventually settle down (that's what I got from the cheesy speech) and that's why she stays in Woodbury. It will be interesting to see what she does in the coming episodes...
EDIT - didn't she want to die in the first season? Thanks for saving her Dale!

ya it's not the fact that Andrea is an annoying character that bothers me so much, so was Lori. it's that she is such a great character in the comics, while the TV version is the complete opposite. same thing with Dale, he was an awesome crotchety old man in the books but a whining little bitch in the TV series. at least they had the sense to kill him off in a glorious way, hopefully they do the same with Andrea
