Yeah but the KHL is a low scoring league so while impressive it's not quite the same as 3 shutouts in an NHL playoff series.

Between Kippers twilight, Ramo, Gilles, and Brossoit, The flames goaltending future looks quite bright IMO. Nice to see hope at the most valuable position.

We just have to pray and hope that the game they are having in their respective leagues are elevated to the NHL.

Damn...was hoping they would lose so we could potentially bring Ramo over.

Three shutouts is pretty impressive though, especially when you pretty much need to pitch a shutout for your team to win.

I think about half the teams in the KHL have a guy putting up .920+ numbers. Heck, Konstantin Barulin put up a .940 in the regular season this year. Bobroksy put up a .932 in his time in the KHL, while Pekke Rinne put up a sub .900.

I really don't know what we're getting in Ramo, but I hope it is good.

That's the thing about scouting and what must make it so difficult. Stats don't automatically translate through a KHL (or AHL)-to-NHL conversion factor. You never know which players have the capability of raising their game to the level of their competition (well, I imagine professional scouts have a system for making educated assumptions). It sounds like Flames scouts believe that Ramo can raise his game, and 3 shutouts in a playoff series makes me hopeful that they are right.

If this guy comes over and is good I'll be happy but I have zero expectations he's an improvement over a Joey MacDonald type guy.

Pointman mentioned that the series was a battle of defensive hockey. Minnesota wild style.

Damn I hope Ramo can adapt to the Flames system and not get shell shocked; we are no where near Minny type hockey.

Problem is that Kipper has set the bar for what we think our goalie should be. To move forward A.K. (After Kipprusoff) I think we just need an above average goalie who is under 30.

Hopefully that is Ramo.

We are not winning the cup anytime soon, but we don't want to return to the days of Wregget and Tabbaracci.

In some ways I wonder if this wasn't the best thing to happen to the Flames. A lot of the forwards have been pretty lax in the defensive zone in part because they had a goalie who would bail them out 80-90% of the time.

If you don't get punished, chances are you don't learn.

No but he's the best prospect not in the NHL, we better trade up to draft him!

He looks as NHL ready as any other prospect I've seen. Cannot believe the speed he has at that size.

Didn't he Nichuskin just sign a 3 year deal with the KHL?

He doesn't go top 10 based on the Russian factor alone.

I think he is in the 5-8 range talent-wise in this draft. However, it would not be surprising to see him slide to around 15-20 for the reasons you mentioned (Russian, possible KHL risk - though I never heard anything about him signing).

I think he would be an awesome 2nd pick if we were drafting say 4th or 5th and had a 15-20th pick as well.
